JDF really ran out of gas and unfortunately once again failed to prove themselves on the mainland. Cam Kinsman being out injured has taken away a pretty big part of the team
Looks like Wicks, Jones, and Kozlowski are the strength for SD and super hyped Tilsley is non-existent.
12:34
Lately we've had
Jost is too soft
White is not as good as we thought
McCarnan is not smart
Georgeopoulos is too short
Regush is not a stud
Uy will drop off the rankings
Now Tilsley is non-existent
All I can say to the new kid to join this group is keep doing what you are doing. It will probably get you moved up the rankings.
All these kids have to put up with this just ask any one of them.
You had a great tournament kid!
Terrible job by the Regina Tournament in making tournament results public.
Congrats to Richmond. Going 6-0 shows you were very deserving of the win.
Georgeopoulos' height has no affect on the way he physically handles players.
South deltas scoring leaders page doesn't include all players and games. If you aren't going to do it right you shouldn't post it .Very misleading.either correct it or take it down . Most people can see what you are trying to do.very sad.
Richmond Blues dominated in the Tim Jardine Tournament winning all 6 of their games and the championship. Nevertheless, we apparently have no stars and our players are never mentioned or promoted. Well, we are moving up to Flight 1 unlike most of the teams and supposed star players mentioned on this site. What does that tell you about the majority of the bloggers on this site. Its all hype and most bloggers are only interested in promoting their kids whether they deserve it or not.
I bet it feels good for that Prairie Storm team to win after all those guys left for greener pastures.
Tilsley played for my sons USA team for a while this summer coached by Ben Cooper. He was our best forward and I hope my son gets to play with him again.
Kinsman??? I think JDF is not even in the league of the Mainland teams
Can you update the scoring leaders for the tim Jardine?
I think what the Jardine tourney shows is that there is little difference between the bottom of flight 1 and the top of flight 2 in Pacific Coast. It also indicates that you need to play top competition to reach potential. Congrats to all teams and let the season begin.
Congratulations to Richmond! I've seen a few of their games and they look solid. Should be able to battle for the 5, 6, or 7 spot in Flight 1.

very true and fair statement...
A big thank you to the participating teams in the Regina Graham Tuer Challenge and volunteers in making it a great success. Special thank you goes to the families and soldiers of the Armed Forces around the works, GOD BLESS!
Yes, may the power of Zeus bless us all.
kelowna only lost to poe 4-1 not 8-2
9:25
Yes, Richmond had a successful tournament and you have received some kind words. But realistically you don't have any stars. You have a solid team with steady players. Maybe your coaching is better than some of the other teams. Just because a team wins doesn't mean all the players are now draft picks . Good players are found on loosing teams too. When watching the lower level tournaments like Tim Jardine you must not get sucked into the scoring too much as many of these players would be shut down at the higher levels. Scouts rarely care which team wins. I wish Richmond success in the coming season.
10:13
Agree, send those scorers up to flight one for a few games if they are brave enough, and we will shut them down IMMEDIATELY. Too much talk about flight 2 tournaments and scorers. There are a few tough players there that would fit in flight 1 but most wouldn't. This is supposed to be about elite prospects not a general discussion about elite to house.
10:13
Yes, scouts don't care who wins. Its quite funny how they all leave before the MVP announcement. This should tell the parents something.
9:25 -I just read all the back and forth about flight one and the comments about Richmond.
I would agree that Richmond may not show to have any first round draft picks. The difference is really the strength of the teams CORE. They all know their roles, and understand the TEAM concept. As far as the coaching (I am the Coach) and my job is easiest when you have good kids with great character -and thats what this team is built on. We look forward to the competition in flight one, and expect to battle in the middle of the pack. It won't be easy, but then again... who wants easy. Best of luck to all in the upcoming season and to the BC Teams in MH tournament.
BTW, whoever posted that Richmond "dominated" in Tim Jardine tournament should realize that we did do well, but had a great battle (and the toughest game) against Seafair in the Semi-Finals. That team is well coached and hats off to the SF squad in that hard fought battle.
12:43
Coaching can be a huge problem in flight 2 with parent and non parent coaches. Good luck to your team and God help some of the other teams left in flight 2.
12:43
I believe this blog is about promoting players, not coaches. As the coach of the Richmond A1 team, it would be nice to hear who your CORE group is that has made your TEAM so successful. And yes, by looking at the scores in the Tim Jardine tournament, your team did dominate. There was one close game against Seafair, but the rest of the games were decisive wins.
Who's promoting coaches? I wasn't the one making the statement about issue coaching in flight 2. As far as your suggestive mocking of my CORE and TEAM play.... It's the way it is, and the boys care more about the team being successful. I don't need to promote the individuals right now and certainly not to you. I have a close enough relationship with several key scouts that will do their own research and ask what they need to know. I suggest that you take your syndical attitude and enjoy the rest of the other blogs....maybe try the baking bread blog.
9:58
Oh boy I guess we are all scared of you now! With your contacts etc. Just another coach wanting publicity for himself and scaring his kids half to death , that without him they are nothing.
7:38
Yes, agree, we all know who it is. He does it all the time. Did it in SD now Richmond.
9:58
Its "Western Elite Hockey PROSPECTS"
not "but look at me I'm the coach".
We are all so fed up with this type of coach.
I hope the blogger isn't listening to your scouting reviews.
7:38
Yes. Yet another fight 2 coach thats sort out a decent team to move him to flight 1. But watch out he has "contacts".
Haha, are you kidding me? Keep things in perspective here. I'm not promoting myself, it's not about me ya fools. My point is that our team is not made up of superstars, just a good group of team players. You mock me for that? As far as my contacts, they don't need me to figure out which players are good or not...as they also don't give a crap about the blogs (no disrespect to WEHP). Lastly, you are so great at hiding behind the keyboard....and suggesting that I do this all the time? I have nothing to hide and that's why I put myself out there...your a BEAUTY.
I'm not here to banter back and forth about irrelevant BS. It's not about taking shots at people, it's about the players, teams and what's happening in the western hockey system. I know this coach from SD days and he is very much about the kids. I've never coached hockey, but have coached other sports and the focus on this tiring is crazy. PCAHA should really look at the big picture (like Alberta) and go with a minor and major program. Maybe we wouldn't have such issues with who's where in tiring, and who's responsible.... Just my 2 cents, and probably only worth half that.
coach we're not scared of you but you are funny. I thought I was going to the show ahah. Parents u keep telling us to grow up? Hmmmm
This coaching thing just hits a raw nerve with most parents. We have all seen this before. We watch the swearing, kicking the garbage cans, threats to our kids etc etc. Some of them are just pure bullies that are allowed to get away with it. This is just another example of "I am the coach" beware of me . I hold your sons future in my hands. Call them out parents its you that have the power. And stop paying these guys for all the extra stuff that you dont need. Wake up.
Wow, we agree on something... They should be called out! The only other thing about being aware, is that not all coaches are in that group. Some coaches actually do it for the love of the sport, and watching kids get further in their hockey dreams....and yes there are some that are purely in for the dough and control of...
1:45
Yes, there are some good ones. But most of the bad ones want the top rep teams for their own glory. We don't see any of them volunteering their time to coach house league for free (for the love of the game). They are usually trying to climb the ladder for their own gain. Some stay at the middle rep level as thats where they can make the most money suggesting to parents that with a bit more ice time in "my program" the kid will surely make A1 next year. We see this all over at every level. Parents with a first kid going through the system fall for this whereas parents that have done it before steer clear of these guys, but often get outcast for "not getting with the program". I know this sounds cynical, but thats the way it is. My kids have played rep, house and in between, with one having done really well. Coaches have often been a big disappointment for my kids and me at the minor hockey level.
8:07
The fact that this conversation has gone on for so long is a clear indication that this subject does get people heated. I've been involved in hockey for over 50 years. As a player, parent and coach. My experiences with coaches as a player were mostly awful. Most of mine were either involved to get their kid the most ice time or to make the most money. As a parent I was very worried about this and found that I was mostly excluded from all the decisions about my kids game and wondered often if I should even be putting them in this sport. I became a coach for a while and soon learned that on the inside of the coaching world players are just commodities that may allow the coach to move up the ladder, and parents basically just stand in the way. I love the game of hockey. I think I benefitted from playing as I feel my kids did. But the coaches I met along the way were still mostly a self serving bunch of uneducated bullies that love controlling kids that don't answer back too much. Wow! I feel much better getting that off my chest.
10:03
Lots of people I know would have the opposite opinion. Glad to see the back of him from SD. Just another wanna be with a big chip on his shoulder.
November 16, 2012 12:43 PM
So what you are saying is that the team has a great core. The kids all understand team play. They all have great character. I am assuming they all had this before you got there. Try not to take any of the credit then for them winning eh!
Just maybe any coach could win with this team!
If you are doing this for the love of the game how about a non paid house team next year.
8:07
So what does a parent to do when a coach tells a kid in atom (one of the best in his age group) that if he doesn't change spring teams he will make sure he never plays A1 again. Yes I know its hard to believe but it happened to my kid. Staying away from that coach doesn't seem to be the answer as I hear this elsewhere too. I'm starting to think that these guys are too weird. Is it really just becoming all about money or is it about them looking good.
12:43
The big mistake you made was saying you were the coach. Which in these circles makes you no better than pond scum. Oh don't take me wrong, we love our coach, oh yes we do (not)! We just don't like him publicly telling everyone that our kids are not first rounders. Maybe they are not, but who in the hell do you think you are. If all the coaches are like this then why do we need WHL scouts just ask the coaches. Can't wait for this year to be over and move on. To what who knows.
11:09
Mostly very true especially about the scorers. There are many smaller kids in flight 2 that score quite well which would fade away when faced with opponents who actually are trying to hit them.
But don't forget there are some elite players playing in flight 2 and 3. Not many but they are there. So we shouldn't look down and mock too much. I would suggest you could move many good players down to a flight 2 team and they would struggle to get noticed as they would have no support which they are used to having on a higher team.
The person that keeps referring to SD.... Give it up, you obviously don't really know this coach. He's been approachable, respectful of the players and parents, not to mention the time he puts into our kids development. My son respects the coaches, and the coaches show them respect. I actually feel bad that they spend so much time with these kids that he misses a lot of his own boys games...and he's not getting paid, so I guess that makes him selfish? Hey from my point of view, we're glad he came to Richmond.
Me again, must be enjoying the abuse... Oh we'll... I hear ya on the spring programs and "extra ice"... I don't run spring or extra sessions, that's golf season for me. I really don't like the spring programs being run by coaches of associations (I'm sure I just added to my enemy list). There is already too much BS politics in hockey now. The spring programs make it even tougher to have a true rep tryout without the thoughts of who you played for in spring or if you didn't do the extra ice sessions... There are some great spring programs out there, but wish it could be somehow separate to association winter coaches.
As far as coaches trying to make it up the ladder and not giving back at the house level (for free). There are some out there volunteering and I think it's great. Coaches are allowed to have ambitions to coach at different levels...aren't they? I've coached from H3 to high performance and there is lots of great things about each level(and it is for the love of it).
As for the SD "glad to see him go"... It's unfortunate that you throw stones at a glass house, and hide behind your keyboard -ps how is your volunteer time clock going?
3:17
I'm not taking credit for their wins? Lol, I know how it works kids win games and coaches lose them...and that's cool.
The boys are good, and if there was another coach they probably would do well...
As far as coaching a house team (free or not free), I'm not doing this for the money. I just prefer the commitment and competition level in the rep program.
11:02
You make a good point. You have left behind you a "small" problem with a large ego. Who is money grabbing the parents with no shame. Spreading fear from house to minor midget that he is a god and has powerful contacts. Poor SD. Still like all others he will fall by the wayside as "bigger" fish are moving in.
11:02
I think the only thing you did wrong was admit to being a coach. Everybody's anger about their own experiences with coaches fell on you. Also we know you came from SD. This association is drowning in politics and BS due mainly to rival spring programs and these people jockeying for power. The kids get caught in the middle and are used as pawns in a silly adult battle of men that "never did make it". I see this as an Atom parent who shudders at the horror stories I hear of the things to come. These people try to control everything they can in the association so they can make as much money as they can. Its their job. Open your eyes parents and kick the bums out. The association is being ridiculed around the rinks and the money its costing you is criminal.
November 19, 2012 10:46 PM
I would guess that your kid is on the power play. Or maybe a family friend. Or even been told he's got a great chance of being drafted.
3:38
Agree. The idea of my kids coach telling a scout what he thinks of my son makes me so angry. He's there to coach not to make life altering decisions for my kid. Tip toeing around these guys has got to stop.
10:46
Don't know him Ha!
Give me a break how can you miss him.
Just look for all the followers bowing down in his presence. After all he has "close relationships with key scouts".
11:02
The readership of this blog must be huge. As I've heard of this thread a few times over the last few days at the rinks.
From one coach to another,"what were you thinking". Try keeping your mouth shut you are giving us all a bad name.
I appreciate the Richmond coach not posting anonymously, I respect that, thank you. I also agree that a coach can coach at a higher level to be able to become a better coach and challenge himself. As for this thread though there would not have been a reason for him to post if not for the juvenile posts that have been flooding many threads recently from Richmond players provoking responses. It is obvious when reading these comments that winning and being in flight 1 is very new to Richmond Minor, it comes across as pathetic, like the H2 player's excitement scoring his first goal (but that is exciting). If you belong there then there is no reason to have the "in your face attitude" As for this team playing as a team with no stars that is great but the "character" comment from the coach I roll my eyes at. Class and character does not emerge from laughing and mocking other teams and players. Maybe a little meeting is in order about their conduct. Outside of that, its great to see new teams in flight 1 and I think everyone would like to see you beat a top 4 team or 2.
I agree, off topic... Good luck to all the teams, players and coaches (and parents) for the upcoming season. Some exciting players to watch this season, and up and coming.
