Wednesday Night Action
Alberta - AMBHL Results
Airdrie 2 - Calgary Bisons 6
The Calgary Bisons improve to a AMBHL South leading 12-1-1 and sit just 2 points back of league leading SSAC after a convincing 6-2 victory on Wednesday.  The Xtreme currently sit in 4th place in the Ram South and  hold a 5 point lead over Red Deer White for the final playoff spot.  Leading the way for the Bisons was Jake Ashton with 2-2-4, he now has 25 points in 14 games.  Matthew Phillips had 2-1-3 and '99 born Kyle Olson had 3 assists.  Phillips leads the team with 22 goals and 34 points in 14 games while Olson has 25 points.  That line was very dangerous in the Medicine Hat Tournament.  The Bisons had to go to their "AA" program to call up several players due to missing D - Mark Drohan, D - Mark Drohan, D - Aiden Roche-Setoguchi, F - Nico Serpico and F - Jesse Sheen.  The Xtreme leading scorer Jordan McConnell had 1-1-2 and has a team leading 17 points in 14 games.

Edmonton KC 4 - St. Albert Sabres 4

Saskatchewan - SBAAHL Result
Regina Silver Foxes 6 - Notre Dame "AA" Hounds 6
The Silver Foxes are now 3-3-2 and the Hounds are 2-10-3 after a wild 6-6 tie in the lone Saskatchewan Bantam AA game from Wednesday.  The Silver Foxes were led by Dryden Kaczmar who scored 4 goals.  Kaczmar now has 9 goals in 9 games, now 9 goals behind team leader and captain Caleb Griffin who has 18.

Manitoba - Winnipeg AAA League
Pembina Valley Hawks 7 - Southwest Cougars 2
Karl Conrad scores 2 goals and 1 assist while Ben Dalke, Wyatt Sabourin and Logan Christensen all had 1-1-2.  Christensen has really opened up some eyes in the '99 age group this season with his play.  He leads the Hawks in goals as a first year player and is definitely someone to keep an eye on.  Tristen Cross on defense was strong for Southwest and has been all year long.

why is nanaimo ranked ahead of JDF? JDF are 1st in the island league ahead of them, and have beat them everytime but once! I understand there may be other factors playing into it.

to the parent asking about spring programs ......

here are some questions you must ask yourself first:

where do you play winter hockey?

how many out of province/country travel tournamemts are you willing to do?

what are the initial costs and how many skates and dryland do the teams do per week

what are your expectations (showcase your child, or 2nd/3rd liner)

what are the politics and promisses you have heard from either team

who is coaching what teams and will this coach fit to your childs learning curve

I do like the BC Dynamo program (great power skating and skills)

I wish this was around for 98 birth year.

as of right now, all of the programs will be excellent, and, some will cost you more based on the travel or the amount of ice sessions.

Good Luck
