Weekend Bantam Action Schedule - Sunday Morning

**Congrats to OHA on winning the Randy Lindros Memorial tournament in Kamloops today over Abbotsford in the final.

British Columbia - PCAHA
Friday, November 2nd
BWC 4 at NSWC 2 FINAL
NSWC got down 4-0 but scored a couple late PP goals to make is look a bit closer than it really was.  Jake Kryski was again very strong for BWC while Tak Anholt was strong for NSWC.  Jaeger White had a highlight reel goal that we just may have some video of later in the day.  NSWC finishes at 5-2-1 after balancing with losses to BWC and Langley and a tie vs. Coquitlam.  BWC is 5-1-1 with 43GF and 6GA but it should be noted that 22 of those goals came vs. Cloverdale.  One thing is for sure in that they are very stingy, led by a very good defense core.  BWC only loss came against Langley.

Saturday, November 3rd
Surrey 7 at Cloverdale 1 FINAL
Cloverdale finish balancing at 0-8-0 with 2GF and 77GA.  Surrey is 2-3-2 with one more game tomorrow evening against Langley.  It looks like Surrey will be safe in Flight 1 while Cloverdale is most likely dropping all the way to Flight 3 according to what we are hearing.

Monday, November 5th
Coquitlam at BWC
Langley at Surrey

- End of Balancing.  It looks as though the Flight 2 balancing winner Richmond Blues will move up to Flight 1 as they finished their group at 7-0-1 with 34GF and just 9GA.  The other position could be South Delta who finished 2nd in the group at 5-2-1 or the flight 3 winner Vancouver Thunderbirds who have been very impressive.

Alberta - AMBHL
Friday, November 2nd
Camrose 3  at Edmonton KC 7
Edmonton KC move to 4-7-0 on the season now and have won 4 of 5 games.  Leading the way was Alex Rotundo with 2 goals and 1 assists and has a team leading 21 points in 12 games.  Mac Mindus continues his hot play with 3 points, giving him 12 on the season.  Adam Holowach stopped 33/36 shots.  For Camrose, '99 born forward Kyler Kupka had 2 goals, giving him a team leading 5 goals and 8 points in 11 games for the now 0-10-1 Camrose Vikings.  Goalie Spencer Burton was once again very strong in stopping 53/60 shots and has a .898 save percentage but a 6.57 GAA.

Saturday, November 3rd
Red Deer Black 3 at Calgary Royals 3
In a battle of a pair of middle of the pack AMBHL teams, they end up tieing at 3.  The Rebels Black got goals from 3 different players, amongst the scorers was Jeff De Wit with his team leading 8th goal and 18th point.  For the Royals, it was once again the line of Montgomery-Richmond-Fraulin figuring in on all 3 markers.  Montgomery and Richmond each had 1-1-2 and they both have 13 points in 10 games to lead the team.  Adam Marcoux stopped 28/31 shots for Calgary and is having a fantastic season.

Fort Saskatchewan 2 at Red Deer White 2
The Red Deer White squad slip to 3-8-2 and had to play this one without top forward Tyler Steenbergen.  However '99 born goalie Dawson Weatherill continues to improve this year and in this game he stopped 35/37 Fort Saskatchewan shots.  For Fort Saskatchewan, Kole Gable scored his team leading 7th goal and Zach Bendall found the score sheet and has a team leading 14 points in 12 games now.

Edmonton KC 1 at Edmonton MLAC 8 FINAL
Edmonton MLAC move to 7-2-1 and are 6 points back of SSAC now with a game in hand.  They continue to get scorching hot play from its two star forwards Nolan Volcan and Ryan Jevne.  Jevne picked up another 4 goals, giving him 19-13-32 in 10 games - putting him on track for a 100 point season.  Nolan Volcan added 2-2-4 and has 26 points.  Ty Readman had 3 points, giving him 20 this season.  Rylie Boychuk stopped 26/27 for MLAC.

Southeast 8 at Leduc 5

Calgary Bisons 11 at Okotoks 0
The Calgary Bisons move to 8-1-1 after a convincing 11-0 win over Okotoks on Saturday.  The Bisons were led by team scoring leader Matthew Phillips with 4 goals and 1 assist.  Phillips now has 16 goals in 10 games and is on track for a 50 goal campaign.  '99 born forward Kyle Olson added 3 goals and 1 assist, giving him 7 goals and 14 points.  Joren Petanaude and Jake Ashton had big games as well.  Josh Belisle picked up the goose egg for the Bisons.

Lethbridge 2 at Lloydminster 4
Lethbridge continues to slide down the standings in dropping to 6-5-1 and now sit 3rd place in the Ram South.  The Lloydminster Heat up their record to 8-1-3.  Leading the way for the Heat once again was Cole Johnson who picked up all 4 goals, giving him a team leading 21 in 12 games.  Mason Shaw assisted on all 4 Johnson goals and leads the team with 31 points now.  Kale Clague picked up a pair of assists, giving him 28 points in 12 games and is on pace to smash the defenseman scoring record in the AMBHL.  The Lethbridge reigning player of the month for Sept/Oct - Jordan Roy had 1-1-2.

Sunday, November 4th
Spruce Grove 4 at Grand Prairie 1
Spruce Grove move above .500 for the first time in over a year with a 4-1 victory over the now 2-9-1 Grand Prairie Storm.  Spruce Grove who out-shot Grand Prairie 53-26 got another strong game from '99 born Cameron Lockard with 1-1-2, giving him 6-4-10 in 12 games.  Team scoring leader Luc Smith got 1-1-2 as well and has 12 goals and 19 points in 12 games.

Airdrie 4 at Red Deer Black 4 FINAL

Lethbridge 7  at Camrose 3 FINAL

Southest 2 at Lloydminster 4 FINAL
Brayden Goulet scores twice in leading the Heat over a hot Southeast Hockey  Hounds team this afternoon.  Goulet now has 8 goals and 13 points this season.  Mason Shaw added 3 more assists, giving him 34 points and 24 assists which have him 2nd in the AMBHL.  Kale Clague scored his 10th of the season.  Regan Doig and Michael Doneff scored for Southeast in the loss.  Lloydminster held the shots advantage of 47-32.

Edmonton SSAC 5 at St. Albert 4 FINAL
The SSAC squad battled back from down 4-0 with 5 minutes to play in the second period to win 5-4.  Tyler Benson scored the GWG with under 30 seconds to go and had 2-1-3 in the game.  Nolan Yaremko had 1-3-4.  Benson now leads the league in scoring with 59 points in 12 games which is 21 more than Sam Steel's 38.  St. Albert got 1-2-3 from Ryan Cox in leading the way.  SSAC is now 11-0-1 and have scored 93 goals.

Calgary Flames 1 at Calgary Northstar Sabres 4 FINAL

Calgary Royals 3  at Calgary Bisons 6
Matthew Phillips picks up 2 goals and 2 assists in doubling up the Royals 6-3.  Phillips now has a team leading 17 goals and 25 points in 11 games and remains on a 50 goal pace.  Jake Ashton also scored a pair of goals, giving him 8 this season.  '99 born Kyle Olson had 1-4-5, pushing him to 19 points in 11 games.  The Bisons are now 9-1-1 and sit in first place in the south of the AMBHL while the Royals drop to 6-4-1.

Saskatchewan - SBAAHL
Friday, November 2nd
Battleford Barons 4 at Notre Dame Hounds AA 3 FINAL
The Battleford Barons get 2 goals from Josh Sielsky, his first two of the season in improving the Battlefords to 3-3-0 on the season.  The 2-7-2 "AA" Hounds got 2 goals from Burke Johnstone in the defeat.

Saturday, November 3rd
Moose Jaw Warriors 1 at Estevan Bruins 3
The Estevan Bruins improve to 2-6-0 and drop the struggling Warriors to 1-7-0 after a 3-1 win.  Matthew Bill scored all 3 goals for Estevan, his first 3 of the season.  '99 born Chantz Petruic continues his hot play with the lone marker for Moose Jaw.

Yorkton 3 at Balgonie 1
The Yorkton Terriers move to 2-4-2 after a big win in Balgonie and dropping the Prairie Storm to 5-4-0.  Yorkton got goals from 3 different players while '99 born Eamon Milligan replied for Balgonie.

Battleford Barons at Regina Pat Blues

West Central 3 at North East Wolfpack 2
West Central move to 9-1-1 and sit atop of the North of the SBAAHL after a big win over the now 6-2-0 North East Wolfpack.  Garrett Pilon, the cousin of former 3rd overall bantam selection Ryan Pilon and son of former NHLer Rich Pilon led the way with 1-1-2.  Pilon, who move from Saskatoon to play with the Western Canada Bantam Championship hosts West Central now has 9-5-14 in 11 games.  I think a bit more was expected of him.  Justen Close, one of the top Saskatchewan tenders was once again solid.  Mackenzie Somers scored both for North East, he now has 8 goals in 8 games.  North East out-shot West Central 26-19.

Regina Silver Foxes 5 at Prince Albert 16
Drew Warkentine started things off on what looked to be an unstoppable game for him with 3 goals and 1 assist in the first 14 minutes in giving Prince Albert a 6-3 first period lead en route to the rout.  Warkentine looked to have injured his arm/wrist late in the first rushing the net.  Time will tell the extent of the injury.  Small, skilled Tanner Fiddler picked up 3 goals and 3 assists, giving him 16 goals and 24 points in 10 games.  Gritty forward, Braden Isbister had a big 3 goal game and Kent Hanson had 1-5-6, giving him 20 points in 10 games for the 5'4 forward.  Regina, who was without rough forward Parker McCormick got a great game from captain Caleb Griffin and a 3 goals from Dylan Kaczmar.  It was a penalty filled game that threatened to break out and did to a small extent on several occastions

Sunday, November 4th
West Central 1 at Sask Valley 0 FINAL
Moose Jaw at Weyburn
Estevan at Regina Monarchs

Manitoba - WPG AAA
Friday, November 2nd
Winnipeg Hawks 7 at Brandon 0 FINAL
Interlake 3 at Winnipeg Sharks 7 FINAL

Saturday, November 3rd
Winnipeg Monarchs at Brandon
Winnipeg Hawks at Central Plains

Southwest 1 at Interlake 5 FINAL
Loewen, Bear and Mattson once again strong for Interlake.  Loewen led the way with 2 goals and 1 assist.  He has been a rapid riser up our rankings as of late.  Loewen leads the team with 13 goals and 24 points in 12 games.

Pembina Valley 1 at Winnipeg Warriors 7 FINAL
Warriors remain the lone undefeated squad at 8-0-0.

Sunday, November 4th
Central Plains at Yellowhead
Southwest at Winnipeg Monarchs

It will be fun to see if royals can get another win vs bisons

bwc defeats nswc 4-2 and the universe makes sense again. Can anyone offer a bit of a game report?

Placement round in PCAHA will wind-up this weekend. Interesting to see which teams will move in and out of Flight 1. See Burnaby A1 and Cloverdale A1 moving down to Flight 2 for sure. Interesting to see what PCAHA does with Surrey A1. Definitely see Richmond A1 moving up to Flight 1. Anyone know anything about this team? Usually expect to see Seafair A1 in Flight 1, but they seem to be having some challenges this season.

Should be Richmond and South Delta moving to Flight 1 for sure.

Anonymous said...

West Central at North East. Although only November, this game may determine their stock within the province of Saskatchewan.

Anonymous said...

I don't think there's any doubt that Surrey will be in Flight 1. They've earned a couple of ties, both against solid Flight 1 Teams (Semi & Coquitlam), plus there goal differential is perfectly reasonable (15-26).
Even Burnaby Minor is likely to stick imo, given that they really only suffered one blow-out, a 9-0 loss to NSWC. I know there was also a 6-0 loss to Abby, but they also only lost by two goals to BWC. Besides, somebody's gotta be the last place team in Flight 1.

Here's my prediction for Flight 1 to start the season:
Abbotsford Bantam A1-T1
Burnaby Minor A1-T1
Burnaby Winter Club Bantam A1-T1
Coquitlam Bantam A1-T1
Langley Bantam A1-T1Burnaby Bantam A1-T1
North Shore Winter Club Bantam A1-T1
Richmond A1-T1
Semiahmoo Bantam A1-T1
Surrey Bantam A1-T1
... with South Delta and Ridge Meadows petitioning hard to join that Flight. Personally, I think they'll be better served developing (chemistry, play-making, scoring, confidence) by winning in Flight 2 for the first half of the season and THEN making the jump to Flight 1 to close out the year.

With the PCAHA's placement having any game with 3 points or less a tie, I think that only Cloverdale will be moving down and only Richmond moving up. Although it is only placement, it looks like there is pretty good parity among the top teams in group one and should be interesting. Richmond is a good team, but probably will struggle a bit with in the top division, although they are fast and well coached. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Anonymous said...

Cloverdale should ASK to move down two steps ... to Flight 3. Seriously, those boys are in desperate need of some kind of ego-boost.
If you've seen them play you'll know it's a miracle they scored even a single goal.
Let them play Flight 3 ... get to handle the puck, make some plays, and win a few games. That they have already endured a 70-1 drubbing through placement (it will prolly reach 75-1 after the next game) is ridiculous. Don't extend the mistake by making them the worst team in Flight 2.

pg said...

The Vancouver Thunderbirds who started placement in flight 3 will move up to tier 1. With solid performances in the Chilliwack AAA tournament there is no doubt the team will be a top 6 in PCAHA. Although they may have had a few bumpy games, but beating teams 16-2 cannot be denied and therefore they should be moved up.

Anonymous said...

Thirds lost to Langley A2 4 to 2. There should be no bumpy games is tier 3.

Anonymous said...

Watched the Bisons game tonight versus the Oilers. The Bisons are a Great Lake hockey kind of club. Wow what a bunch of selfish players... From this scouts perspective - distribution of the puck exists in maybe three players. If this keeps up, Med Hat versus the bigger stronger puck moving clubs will be a challenge. This game is about puck movement folks, creating 2 on 1. Kind of basic.... Right!

You kinda blew your credibility when you stated that they've been "beating teams 16-2". They beat ONE team 16-2, and that is a team that also got beat 12-2 by the not very mighty Port Mood Panthers AND even got beat 10-2 by the lowly Vancouver Spirit.

That said, I am sure the Thunderbirds WILL be moved up ... to Flight 2.

Sorry, but the Thunderbirds did not play Coquitlam A1 or Langley A1 in Tiering.
And the big goal differential that you like to point to was built on lopsided wins against the three worst teams in Tier 3, two of which did not win a single game. Remove the numbers from those three laughers and the goal differential differential is only 18-9.
PLUS they lost to Langley A2.

Moving the T-Birds up to Tier 2 is enough for now. If they can dominate there ... then move them up again at the halfway point.

NSWC vs BWC game recap.
Goals by Colltalerro, Kryski, Fabbro and Uy.

Anholt was not having a good game at all,

High lite real goal I would like to see, since we hear this boy did not score a goal.
Maybe the video will prove us all wrong?

I hear BWC goaltending was shakey again allowing 2 goals in a dozen shots

BWC top players are very good but not really worth bragging or comparing to Barzal or Estaphan

Tbirds are another bruise and goon team like the one from the BC valley

Keep your stats live

Anonymous said...

They beat Coquitlam twice early in tryouts with far from final rosters. Give it a rest. You earned your place in flight 3, will be moved to flight 2, end of story. Stop hyping yourself.

Anonymous said...

Yes, goaltending remains a problem for BWC. Easy to see why Shugrue saw so little action last season. Wasn't ready then, just as Coach said. Still isn't.

Anonymous said...

I was watching the OHA abbotsford game and does anyone know why OHA has a small amount of players. I think that there is one 99, so how will the team be next year?

Why even bother to have a placement round if a team from pool 3 can move to flight 1 just because they lobby so hard. T-birds haven't earned it! South Delta should move up the 5-4 game between them and Richmond could have gone either way.

November 4, 2012 7:01 PM

Um, A recap means you were actually there watching. NOT what you heard from someone.

I don't see anyone bragging about anything from any club. only you brought it up.

and the shots were 26-19.
NSWC is a better team then that night. We just could not get anything going. The 2 goals we scored were both on PP's in the third. When it was almost over. They were both good goals.
Goalie was fine for BWC. Not sure where or who you get anything from , but it all seems to be wrong. or a very odd opinion.

Anonymous said...

Only Placement round scores are relevant. Who beat who in pre-season or tournament doesn't even count, so drop it.Richmond and South Delta earned their spots so give it a rest. Bullying your way in is similar to your game play.

Anonymous said...

BC parents are just odd.
Go back and read some of your older comments and see what you are writing. Bashing players will not make your kid better or move him up in the rankings.

T-Birds A1 beat NSWC A2 1-0 and lost to Langley A2 4-2. Langley A2's only lost was 1-0 to NSWC A2. The T-Birds are pumping there own tires a whole lot yet they seem to be fairly well matched against the A2 teams?? Do the T-Birds feel that NSWC A2 and Langley A2 should also be moved up to Flight 1?? Ultimately they were outscored 4-3 (combined scored)in their two games gainst the two A2 teams!!

Welcome to Flight 2 T-Birds. Bring your A2 buddies with ya.

Anonymous said...

To the Thunderbirds parent who is obsessing about which Flight they'll start in: RELAX.
As others have tried to point out, your rambling on about a whole bunch of stuff that simply does not matter. Placement in Flights is based on Tiering games. Period. Not tourney results or exhibition or anything else.

Anonymous said...

It will be great to see some new faces in Flight 1. Andrew Kemp and Lynn Graham two WEHP ranked 99's from Richmond. Also WEHP ranked Cavin Tilsley a 98 from South Delta who is also showing well this year. Well done boys on making flight 1.

Bob Nystrom said...

The Final in Kamloops was very entertaining and fast paced. OHA deserved to win the hockey game and the tourney. Abby had a solid showing and just came up short.
9:11 -OHA has 1 - 99 and Abby has 3.

Edmonton CAC and Coquitlam rounded out the semi-finals and were well balanced.

Good Tourney!

Anonymous said...

Does the kamloops Tier 1 have anyone leading their group?

Anonymous said...

Yes I agree. Refreshing to throw some new talent in the mix.

Anonymous said...

South Delta will not be moving to flight 1. They are tiny. Ridge is a better fit for flight 1 then South Delta. South Delta got served in the Kelowna tournament by Prince George who was the door mat in the Chilliwack tournament. Have a great year in Flight 2 South Delta. Leave flight 1 for the big boys.

Anonymous said...

Hey what about Seafair? tied South Delta 0-0 in a game where they were lucky we didn't win 4-0 with the posts and crossbars we hit. A lot of injuries through the placement round but Seafair coaching staff is more Tier 1 ready then South Delta

Anonymous said...

In the interest of not being as long winded as your post I'll be brief.

That is the most ridiculous lobbying I have ever seen. Lobby Pac Coast not WEHP website. As others have said only games that matter are tiering games.

Comparing how you did in exhibition games vs Port Moody as opposed to how Coquitlam did? Really? Don't knock others down to build yourself up. Leave other teams out of your argument.

Guess false hyping is consistent with listing your Dman as 6 ft tall when in reality he is 5'8" on a good day.

Your team is good enough and showed well in flight 3. Accept your fate from here on.

Anonymous said...

Not a chance that Seafair will move up to Tier 1. Richmond has taken over their spot, with solid performances in their exhibition and balancing games. Richmond has 6 returning players from last season: forwards: Kyle Dosanjh, Paris Jeyachandran and James Houston and defencemen: Devon Vorster, EJ Shaw and Trevor Bee. Keep your eyes on these players and you will not be dissappointed! Game on!

Anonymous said...

Well done Richmond and South Delta for finishing 1 and 2.Lots of people trying to knock you down but sorry people if you finish the balancing round at the top you move up. Its that simple. It would be like asking the team that won the tournament to give back the trophy because the wrong team won. Ha ha! Get over it .

How arrogant. Are you telling us that in BC it doesn't matter how you do in the placement round it is decided by size and prior tournaments. Plenty of "big boys" take the fall same as anyone else.

Anonymous said...

November 3, 2012 4:43 PM-pg

As a player on the T-Birds you should know that it only matters how your team did in the placement round not in previous tournaments.Good luck in flight 2.

Sour grapes maybe?

Re November 5, 2012 12:08 PM
Interesting that South Delta may have been "served" in the Kelowna tournament by Prince George -- but OHA only managed to beat PG by 4 - 3 in the Kamloops tourney last weekend.

Anonymous said...

lol, this squabbling is hillarious. I vote for moving the T-birds up to flight 1 so we can listem to them whine as they are getting beat game after game and begging to be moved back down.

Anonymous said...

You're right the squabbling is hilarious cause it doesn't matter who is in flight 1, we all know the winter clubs get to play by different rules and appear to have the most advantageous home referring than any other assn so basically all other flight 1 teams are just practice games for their tournaments, cause thats what they are a tournament team. Put the winter clubs in their own flight or don't count the points real league team games. Then you have a fair flight 1 worth squabbling about.

TO ANONYMOUS @ NOV 5TH 1:20PM

Having a son in this age group and scorekeeping a lot over the years I know all of names that were plugged in your post.

Jeyacharan, Houston, Forster were all on Seafair. Trevor Bee was with S. Delta and Dosanjh was with Surrey and your coach was also with S. Delta until this year so I think all you should be bragging about is a good recruiting, looks like you have taken Seafairs spot with very few Richmond players. You guys bounce back and forth like ping pong balls over there. Its always good to have new teams in flight 1 and wish you well but this Seafair vs Richmond is getting real old, sick of reading about it, you are all one in the same anyways just depends on the year. Your issue in flight 1 will be many but mainly your goaltending I don't see any familiar faces in net so am assuming they are first years. S. Delta is in contention for making flight 1 if coach protests or maybe later as for the rest of group 2 I don't think there will be any others moving to flight 1 unless they want more teams, there are only 9 right now.

Great comments.

We all know that recruiting is happening all over associations, winter clubs and academys. I find it hilarious that the ones that are pointing the finger at everyone else are usually the most guilty. Look at Cloverdale last year!!! The defence kid lived in Coquitlam and played for Cloverdale. Sounds like its the same this year in Richmond and Seafair.
2:14 Your pointing the finger, What association are you with???
I know you won't tell because we would expose your guilt!!!!
