Light night on Monday in Bantam Hockey

PCAHA Flight 1 action comes to an end with the BWC Bruins defeating Coquitlam 6-1 this evening.  BWC held a 33-11 shots on goal advantage and got a 4 point game from Jaeger White and 3 from Jake Kryski, they end up in 1st place heading to the regular season with a record of 6-1-1, having scored 49 and allowing just 7 goals.  Coquitlam ends balancing at a respectable 3-2-3 and were a tired team a day after returning from a hectic Kamloops tournament over the weekend......In other PCAHA action tonight, it was Langley defeating Surrey 5-0.  Langley was led by D- Dennis Cholowski who had 1-2-3, Malm and Gingras were amongst the other goal getters.  '99 born Jordan Hollett continues his fantastic season with the shut-out tonight.  Langley finishes balancing at 6-2-0 and Surrey finishes at 2-4-2.

In SBAAHL action it was the Regina Silver Foxes bouncing back from a 16-5 loss on Saturday to Prince Albert with a 4-4 tie against Notre Dame AA Hounds.  The Silver Foxes were again without Parker McCormick.  Tonight they were led by a 4 goal effort by Caleb Griffin.  If you remember just 2 games ago, Griffin scored all 5 of the Regina goals.  The captain Griffin now has 17 goals in 8 games and has been a one man show at times for Regina.  Jared Power scored twice for Notre Dame, he now has 5-5-10 this year in 12 games.

Both the AMBHL and the Winnipeg AAA league were off this evening.  Games resumes in the AMBHL on Wednesday evening.

I feel sorry for the other kids playing on that BWC Bantam team.

did White have 4 goals or 1 goal and assists?

is anyone else scoring or is it just those two players being marketed by Whites scouting family?

From the games we have watched, White seems to be the one yelled at by the coach on where he needs to be on the ice

favortism or stacked up stats in all of our eyes.

Take away 2 forwards 2 defence and 1 goalie and what do you have left?
Average kids with parents that are willing to allow this to go on, all for the chance of getting seen at big tournaments. They get what they asked for.
Lots of better kids playing on other teams and developing quicker. BWC kids are always ranked too high but gradually drop off by draft time. Same story with the other clubs and academies. When you examine this team closely I'm sure some of these kids are there because they won't complain.

White continues to play himself down the rankings as more scounts see him relative to the top Bantam players. With a high profile tourney just around the corner, it will be fun to see just how far he falls.

It's the standard routine at the winter club ... spotlight a few stars for highest possible draft selection and build future recruiting on that.
As for the yelling, that Batchelor's standard MO too.

Don't feel sorry for any of the players, they ALL appear to be enjoying the experience. It's people like yourself that haven't been involved in a good programs that continue to show how envious you are with your negative comments. I have to laugh because if you ever watched a game or a practice like you say, you would have noticed ALL the kids are subject to scruitny every game and practice not just one. Ask any player that has ever played in the program, everyone has to be accountable.

I basically agree, but would point out that it's really the two D-men that are the strength of the Bruins team. Fabbro and Barberis are tremendous.
One of the two Forwards, White, is also very good but it's been interesting to watch his stock fall. He should still be taken in the Top 10 overal, but no higher than 6 or 7 imo. Kryski will go in the 1st round but he's not in the "elite" category. He over-handles the puck and doesn't use other players well enough.
As for the Goalie, Shugrue, he's another one who has fallen off pretty dramatically ... shaky, uneven performances ... weak goals allowed, low save %.

basically agree, you did not agree with anything !

2 Dmen ?, try 4.
White,Shugrue and Kryski will be just fine. They have the highest goal scoring and lowest against in BC Bantam division. What more do you want? If you don't like them , why do you take about them so much.
Come back in April when it all makes a difference.

Saw them play NSWC. 2 goals allowed against the 3 ranked team in Western Canada and that's a bad showing? Who do you Coach for ? We could not score at all in the first 2 periods, even on power plays.
He is very big for a 98 goalie. White and Kryski are good together the more they play as with any team the better they will get, as with any group.
White can control the puck better then anyone in BC.

You obviously are a parent that does not like Kryski, White or Shugrue. But trying to cover it up by saying you like a few. If this were not Anonymous you would not post this.

These are all good players, Thanks Unhappy Dad.

What are you going to all his games and keeping stats, that no one else is.
Another bad comment ,where people making lame comments, and appearently watching every game this kid plays.

But still has the lowest GA, shut out Abbey and no team has scored more the 2. Out of the 6 goals GA . 2 were 5 on 5.

You could not be more wrong on these three players. If its ok with you we will keep these 3.

The fact is that White has fallen in the rankings, including WEHP's. He had often been projected as THE top pick prior to the season, and certainly in everyone's Top 3. Now he is anywhere from 5th to 9th on the few lists I've seen. And to anyone who is not hyper-sensitive, that means he is still one heck of a talent ... Top 10 or better in all of Western Canada! (How come you don't understand that?)

GAA is no way to evaluate a goalie, or validate his ability. Playing net for the best team in BC, behind a defence that includes Fabbro, Barberis, Purhar, and Giannetti ... my 8-year old Granddaughter would have an enviable GAA.
Save % can be one useful measure. And the incidence of "bad goals" can tell you something about mental strength/focus.
Of course, there's other stuff we look for ... rebound-control, patience, lateral movement, post-save recovery, etc. (but GAA is just about meaningless).

"we look for " ok who is we. a scout will have no problem reveling himself.

I would say white is still the 2nd best forward in the draft behind benson

9:31AM also cited Kryski as a First Rounder, which means Top 30 in Western Canada. If you don't understand, that means he's plenty good too.
The Shugrue comments also jibe with my own observations. He's been inconsistant at best. And to cite his GAA as an indication of his ability? You gotta be kidding.

Lighten up BWC parent(s). You're tops in the province and have a good chance to defend at Westerns. Discussions of relative ability, weaknesses, and draft potential is what this site is supposed to be about. If you can't handle reading the comments, don't.
