Thursday Night Bantam Action

It was a pretty quiet Thursday evening across western Canada with just a handful of games taking place.

British Columbia PCAHA
Coquitlam 3 - Abbotsford 0
The Coquitlam Chiefs move to 2-0-1 after an impressive 3-0 victory over the Abbotsford Hawks on Thursday night.  This was the first loss of the season for Abbotsford, who started out 3-0-0.  For Coquitlam, it was Paul Tucek earning the shutout and Caleb Fantillo figuring in on all 3 Chiefs goals going 2-1-3.  '99 born defenseman Scott Walford, who we have highly ranked was very impressive.

NSWC 9 - Burnaby Minor 0
The 2nd overall ranked NSWC Winterhawks move to 2-1-0 with an easy 9-0 win over the now 0-3-0 Burnaby Minior team.  Dante Hannoun was tremendous once again at both ends of the ice.  The captain played good at both ends of the ice.  We still have him in the first round and at this point, it looks like he'll stay there.  Quinn Benjafield is a big force out there and continues to improve and grow in to his body.  He is a bit awkward but the raw talent is there and is someone to really keep tabs on this year.

BWC 2 - Semiahmoo 2
Semiahmoo remain undefeated at 1-0-2 now and have allowed just 4 goals in 3 games, while BWC has another low scoring game and are 1-1-1.  Jaeger White and D - Matt Barberis scored for BWC.

Manitoba AAA Bantam League
Winnipeg Sharks 6 - Southwest 2
The Winnipeg Sharks move to a perfect 4-0-0 and Southwest drops to 1-5-0.  Southwest have scored just 7 goals in those 6 games and have allowed 35.  Of the 11 teams in the new Manitoba Bantam AAA league, the top four are all Winnipeg based.  Southwest got its lone goals from Kirkup and '99 born Tristan Cross.  The Sharks were led by team scoring leader Jordan Young who scored 1-2-3.  Young now has 7 points in 4 games.  D - Garrett Kuklica who is arguably the top ranked Manitoba defenseman for the draft had 1-1-2 and now has 5 points.  G - Mitchell Adamyk got the win for the Sharks and continues his strong play.

Saskatchewan - SBAAHL
Regina Silver Foxes 5 - Regina Monarchs 3
The Regina Silver Foxes get their first win of the season in moving to 1-2-0 while the Monarchs drop to 1-1-0.  Big things were expected out of the Silver Foxes this season but it has taken a while to get going in the early part of the season.  The Silver Foxes have several ranked players as far as top Saskatchewan talent goes so we'll see how they do in Medicine Hat coming up.  Parker McCormick was once again a force all over the ice and did figure in the scoring.

A surprise win for Coquitlam in my opinion, but good for them. Fantillo has been very good.
Scoring and goaltending continue to be problems for BWC. Three games played and only 5 (yes, five!) goals scored. Only one game in the win column too.
Interesting to see that NSWC racked up 9 goals against Burnaby Minor, when BWC managed just 2 against them. Hmmm ... must be lots of hand-wringing.

BWC dominated in the game last night against Semi. If BWC can start burying their chances and put the puck in the net, they will be a force. Semi was lucky to come out with a tie...great goaltending for Semi with Kelleway in net. White was best player on ice.

The Regina Silver Foxes are now 2-2 as they won their first game against Melville 8-5

We almost went a day with out BWC comment, I said almost.
Why do you care about this team ? Nobody cares outside of Vancouver about this team. We do not need play by play comments.
Your not parent of this team, but you sure have a hate towards them. Sorry your kid did not make the team I guess.

Maybe so 252pm.
But BWC was supposed to be "the" force. They were all about repeating at Westerns. Right now they're just one of five teams in the PCAHA mix.
Offence is an obvious weakness and maybe they'll gel a bit more and figure out how to score. Goaltending probably just is what it is though, not likely to improve much ... it's why they sat Shugrue virtually all of last season. All the more reason they will need goal scoring. AND they're gonna have to play the heck out of Fabbro and Barberis to limit chances against.

Either we have some angry (bitter) parents or not so smart scouts.

Is that always your assumption when someone has a different perspective than yours?

it sure is funny how people bash this site and comments,we all have our opinions.and yes there will be kids that dont get drafted, alot of kids are talented in different ways ,size and strenghth r factors ,but in the end we all will see who is on top and who is not.but post after post i see comments goals ass,plus/minus good in all ways.what about the kids, that most normal people dont see, or watch is what kids are doing without the puck.we all can pick the kids that put the puck in the net, and so on ,but to build a team you must have kids that no how to play without the puck,as you move up you will have the puck less and less

The silver foxes are a good team but the monarchs are expected to be a top team this year. Leading the way for the monarchs, jarred hicks is a potentiel draft pick. Big things are expected from him this season. And also brett merk at 5'11 he is a good offensive force and likes to hit.
