Good to see Semi gettin some love, making the honorable mentions.

How is a Saskatoon team in the top 5 in Sask. when they have not even started playing in the regular season yet? And why the Maniacs? Seems a little sketchy to me.

i want to know how Edmonton MLAC didn't even get an honorable mention?

Not after last nights 2-2 tie against Surrey

I wouldn't read too much in to the rankings or the team rankings that this site produces. Everything wehp does is sketchy. We should gather a few guys and start up something better maybe.

Winnipeg Sharks not in the honourabe mention! All Winnipeg city teams will be good this year. Theyre just as good as Monarchs

We should have top 20 in each province that way everybody will be happy!

Any analysis of the Semi/Surrey game from someone who was there?

The Semi/Sry game was a tie due to the "tie" the ref put in penalties. 26 min each side...he made sure that was even. The game was not dirty nor cheap and both sides of spectators just started laughing when the whistle blew. Surrey's goalie had a work out though. Reffing has been an issue around the rinks but it is tough with all the new rules. Everyone sees hits differently.

Agree with the penalty comment. Goaltending was also a factor. Surrey goalie stopped 43/45 shots; Semi goalie stopped 10/12 shots.

No honourable mention for the Flames? The Royals get one and they don't even though they have the same record. Seems fishy.

Semi just spanked Langley, 6-1. What the heck happened there?
They just tied Surrey and follow that up with a hammering of Langley. Can anyone give us a game report?

Against Surrey ,Semi scored 2 goals on 40 shots. Against Langley ,Semi scored 6 goals on just 20 shots. Langley scored their 1 goal on 30 shots. The goalies made a big difference in those 2 games.

It must have been the refs!!!

Penalties for Langley were the problem in the game vs Semi. Goals for Semi were mostly on the pp (5 on 3's as well). Langley's Gingras kicked out of game. Wasn't a good game as too many penalties were called. Langley needs to get this under control if they are to be successful; most penalized team in Flight 1

Yes, Langley goaltending was a big problem.

Langley's first year goalie is 3-0 including wins over NSWC and BWC. He has allowed only 4 goals in those 3 games. Their second year goalie has lost his last 3 starts and has allowed 17 goals in those 3 games.

If it were 5-3's you can't blame the goal tending. Or ever 5-4. While it may look like a bad goal. Goalies are not looking for the guys with the puck all the time on penalty kills. They are also looking at the guy whom is not covered.
When a goalie gets 25-35 shots they are in a grove or mind set. They are in the game.
When you get less then 10 shots a game your cold. That is why they get scored on when 12,11,etc shots or less is on them. Its all a mind set and its not easy. If it was easy your kid and mine would be a goalie. Goalies are about 2 years behind players when it comes to AJHL and other Jr Leagues. I am sure, I am not explaining it right. But at this age they are going very fast and they have to work completely different from players, most of the time on their own. Not making excuses. All goalies have bad games, we just tend to see it more then when players have them, and rightly so. I was a goalie , but I am very glad my kid is not.

With all due respect, and with no sarcasm whatsoever ... your explanation/excuse is way off base. No Goalie Coach, no team Coach, no Scout would offer or accept what you've said. No Bantam goalie who aspires to play rep hockey would or should accept what you're saying.
I truly mean no offence. You're just wrong.

Langley's '99 goalie has played a couple spectacular games. Their '98 goalie has been very weak. If they can at least get solid goaltending, Langley will be able to challenge anybody.

Anonymous said...

I am sure the 98 goalie is trying his best. Not sure you need to inform all of Western Canada on the stats of goalies for your team. I seem to remember its a team game. But I may be wrong.

I'm sure they are ALL trying their best. The discussions here generally center on how good their best is.
Don't like it? Don't read.
