Wednesday Update

AMBHL
Lloydminster 5 - Ft Saskatchewan 1
The Lloydminster Heat improved their record to 18-3-1 and in the process have moved to within 3 points of league leading SSAC with a game in hand.   Ft Saskatchewan continue to struggle dropping to 2-18-2, having scored just 45 goals in the 22 games played.  Leading the way for Lloydminster in this one was once again Andrew Koep with 2-1-3 and 98 D- Kale Clague with 1-1-2.  With the 2 goals, Koep has now taken over the league lead in goals with 30 in 21 games and has moved in to 6th in the point scoring race.  While 98 born D- Kale Clague has moved in to 2nd place in defenseman scoring with 8-18-26 in 22 games, just 2 points back of fellow 98 D- David Quennville of the previously mentioned SSAC squad.  Tucker Cochrane was in goal for Lloydminster and turned aside 13/14 shots.  Cochrane is now 2nd in league GAA with a sparkling 1.98.  For Ft Saskatchewan Torre Covenden scored the lone goal, his team leading 10th of the season.  Goalie Carter Hart stopped 48/53 shots in the loss.  Hart has a pretty respectable .890 save percentage this season.

The Saskatoon Bantam Tournament wrapped up over the weekend with the Saskatoon Stallions rolling to a 6-4 finals win over the Yorkton Terriers.  The tournament was a bit smaller than in years past with just 12 teams taking part.  Amongst the teams attending were; all 6 Saskatoon teams, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Yorkton Terriers, Regina Hurricanes, Bow Valley and Airdrie Lightning.  Neither Airdrie or Bow Valley were able to win any round robin or playoff games.  That is until Airdrie beat Bow Valley 8-1 in the consolation final.  On the other hand, the Stallions went a perfect 5-0-0 to win it.
