WEHP Top 10 Western Canada Team Rankings

WEHP are proud to announce the weekly top 10 team rankings this morning.  The rankings aren't about who has been hot lately but who has been the most consistent through-out the season.

1.   BWC Bruins (16-1-2) - BWC won their only game last week vs. Semiahmoo 4-0 to keep a strong hold on top spot.
2.   Cloverdale Colts (14-6-1) - They stay hot with a pair of wins over NSWC and Mission.
3.   NSWC Winter Hawks (15-4-2) - NSWC was winless in the past week going 0-1-1 in a loss to Cloverdale and a tie vs. Abbotsford.
4.   POE (10-1-1) - They did win all three of their games over the weekend but had a few troubles along the way in doing so.
5.   SSAC Southgate Lions (20-2-3) - A week in which they went 1-0-1 that included a hard fought tie vs. St. Albert and a wild 9-7 win over CAC.
6.   Calgary Royals (19-2-3) - The Royals continue to prove they are one of the top teams in western Canada this week.  Two more wins, outscoring the Bisons/Aidrie 10-1 in the process
7.   Semiahmoo Ravens (15-4-2) - A 2-1-0 week which included a 4-0 loss to BWC and a narrow 5-4 win over Seattle.
8.   St. Albert Sabres (16-4-6) - St. Albert tied the leagues top team 4-4 and defeated Sherwood Park 3-1.  A strong team heading in to their own tournament.
9.   Sherwood Park (18-4-3) - They played once last week, losing 3-1 to red hot St. Albert.  Still looking very strong heading to St. Albert.
10.  Lloydminster Heat (19-4-2) - They had a tie vs. Camrose over the weekend but just prior had a surprising loss to Grand Prairie, thus the drop in the ranking.

Honourable Mentions:
Balgonie Prairie Storm
Pembina Valley Hawks
OHA
Seafair Islanders
Edmonton CAC

OHA is 30-5 and have won two tourneys and lost in the final in another. Morrison has 60 plus goals already, Reagan is perhaps the most dominant D in BC on both sides of the puck, and the goaltender Barry has lost only one game this season and carries a miniscule GAA. No ranking and no all stars. Tough being the new kid.

Is it a battle of the underrated vs overrated this weekend when darkhorse OHA faces the POE All Stars for top spot in the OMAHA?

Should be a good tilt at Propsera Place.

Have OHA beat any of the top teams in the top ten?? And who have they tied or lost two that are not on the top ten?

Yikes, that's 3 losses in a row for the Bisons. I guess the other teams have figured out that slowing down (not stopping, very tough to do) Merkley and Schmyr is enough to beat the Bisons. Not the momentum they are looking for heading into next weekend's tourney up north....

That list is accurate (except for Sh Pk) - I admire what OHA has done this year but they gotta knock off an elite team to go top 10

Cloverdale will cross over in St Albert and probably play POE or NSWC in quater final.

really knock off a top ten, what does that prove, the development of the players and the programs are what counts, education, socialbility, and hockey thats what this is about, these programs work because they take into account all these issues, lots of pressure on 14 year olds to live up to there parents misgivings, just enjoy the hockey the players will end up were they end up, its really out of the parents hands

what were the scores for 3 POE wins this past weekend?

4-1 against kamloops scored 2 late in the third, 8-3 against vernon vernon up 3-1 at ice clean midway thru 2 and 4-2 against Kelowna, scored late in third, kelowna stayed out of the penalty box and played a good game,POE call up goalie saved there bacon. he was real good

Although Sherwood Park did not play well, they beat OHA in their own tourney.

Another Win for Cloverdale tonight. Beat Abbotsford, 5-0.

sherwood park is a good team, had a couple of allstars out of the tournament, top 5 played as they should have in the tournament, no surprises in this tournament, sure OHA would like to play sherwood park again the teams played a fast well played game, very well matched, who won the tournament was it OHA

OHA lost a game early in the round robin to Sherwood 3-2 then woke up and steamrolled through the rest of the tournament. Camrose defeated Sherwood in round robin and ended up playing OHA in QFs. OHA outshot Camrose badly and won 7-3. OHA then beat Chilliwack 15-1 and Kamloops 7-0 to win the event. Sherwood lost in QFs to Lethbridge and Lethbridge lost semis to Kamloops.

People are voting LA Selects to beat out Cloverdale in their Division in St.Albert. Cloverdale the better team at the moment I think will win that Division, no doubt.

No One will be within 2 goals of Cloverdale in St Albert

What's wrong with people voting for LA? Maybe some people just think there the better team. At the moment cloverdale may be winning, but LA is the better team either way. Were voting for the team not players, LA team in general is better.

Cloverdale beat Seattle today, 5-2.

Poe 6-0 after 40 min vs OHA

So overarated POE over Underrated OHA 10 to 1. Boys playing with men really. Oha defense and goaltending could not handle offence. Game was very one sided. This is why oha not in top 10. Period. I'm sure we won't be hearing to much from oha for awhile
