Why don't they play some tougher calibre tournaments!

Willms has two ls, you might as well get the spelling right as you will write a lot more about him in the future

Brody willms last name is spelled with two ls as shown.

December 10, 2012 7:59 PM - They can't, They are the only team that can dictate who and what calibre of teams they play. While everyone other top 15 teams are playing equal or stronger teams, this group has decided to play in "A" Tournaments just for this reason. All stars really, The goalie did not do any thing. They played against one step above House teams. They were not invited to Med Hat -what does that tell you. These parents are going to be very upset in April. We will all hear soon, they are not playing well, like they did in Victoria. Of course not. But you will have to watch this travelling road show fail at the expense of the parents and kids.

What a surprise. I would me very angry at the tournament organizers for even letting them in, and to the manager and coaches of the OHA for even going what a waste of money for everyone who entered the tournament.
But OHA can be proud to carry the trophy.

I guess you can just show up and be a All Star.

Many over ranked players on this team. Watch them fall like flies at U16. Its all about padding the stats for certain kids and hiding them away from their "at home competition". Enjoy the bling. Can real scouts really be taken in by this?

Anonymous said...

How about a house league tournament next. That could be good for the old stats.

Anonymous said...

Wow Malenstyn can do really well against lower competition. We are all so impressed.Come home and face some real competition.

Anonymous said...

Lots of people angry about this one. It really isn't time for WEHP to move these over ranked kids up the list again is it? A few are still ranked too high.

This is one of those tournament wins that should have been ignored. Its a shame for the teams that paid good money and spent time travelling etc. Comes in the category of "who cares".

Reality check: OHA has no stronger competition in there home area (except POE who they beat twice already). They chose to play in Calgary (as did a few other top teams) rather than Med Hat. They've beaten BWC this year. It's unfortunate that Victoria couldn't attract stronger teams, for sure, but that doesn't mean OHA is weak. THe experience might not be worth 30 grand but it's a strong program this year and will launch a bunch of players

Do some of you people think before you put stuff down .You are slamming kids that are playing a gm that we all love .But you insist on saying this kid is not that good,or he is better than the next,WHO CARES.Does it really matter if your kid gets drated or not, some kids develop at different stages and alot dont grow OR PUT WEIGHT ON until 16/17/18 etc.and i have seen top picks 1/10/200 and so on flop at the next level. You should let Whep put down what ever they want,It is there web site and all other sites ranking kids they are opions and we have those, just like a#$holes we all have one.Let the kids decide on who goes where ,your comments will do nothing but make some of your kids get drafted lower, cause there parents are retards. In the end we will all see who makes it and who dont. And it really dont matter what level you play at.In bantam AAA to house,i have seen some top end kids playing house cause all the bullshit that goes with rep hockey. So to all, relax because before you no it,your kids will be playing beer league, so have fun with them so they can give back to the game, when they are done playing.

Everyone of you talking negatively about OHA should be ashamed of yourselves. You all sound jealous because OHA stands for development and character in a young hockey players future accomplishments. These kids like all other hockey players of their age try to do the best they can.

Anonymous said...

is OHA a sponsor of this site.

They must be.

Malenstyn over Hannoun,Aucoin,Thiessen and McDonald. I would love to hear this explained.

You have 4 or 5 OHA players ranked so far out of their league based on stats alone, and not against any competition. Dumba and Lorneson is above Willms and that is not even close. I guess you were not at the Calgary tournament.

How can you rank players who play against kids that are 1 step above house, based on stats against players competing against top 15 teams ?

As a Seafair parent, I am not upset at OHA particiapting in this tournament. Even though they spanked us in the final, it was interesting to see what the next level looked like in skill.

If these parents can't take the criticism now, they are in for a world of hurt. it will only get worse. You don't like it don't read.No one is forcing you too. You think your the only ones to get blasted. The Royals and T -Birds all got their share. Go look back a few days or weeks. All of the top players at one point get written in a bad way.

OHA's record against WEHP "Ranked" Teams:

1. BWC - Beat 5-4
3. NSWC - Lost 4-3*
10. POE - Beat 8-3
HM. MLAC - Beat 6-2
HM. Royals - Lost 2-1*
HM. RD Black - Beat 5-0

*Only two losses to Canadian teams this year.

And we're having this discussion about OHA because...

OHA will beat SSAC and N Dame in St Albert

Best comment I've seen in a while. Pure facts on games played amongst some of the top teams!

2-1 vs the top BC teams and 2-1 vs pretty decent Alberta teams.

What I gather from these results, Medhat results and Cgy tourny results, is that St. Albert should be a lot of fun.

Top 16 teams pretty well picked and guessing there are 2-3 favs but also thinking the next 4-8 could win it if the stars line up!! ALL GOOD!!

Be careful what you wish for. SSAC is not Seafair or Victoria. From what I have heard, Its not that you played so great against BWC . But BWC played very bad. Try to get past the Royals first. You so a few good players. When I saw them play BWC - BWC had their hands full with them and should have won. St Albert will be fun for a few and a eye opener for most.

Anonymous said...

I don't think people are saying they are bad, but How do you know how good you are at this point when you do not play against equal or stronger teams?
Yes winning against BWC and POE 2 months ago was good. The top 4 teams have since separated themselves, as you could see from Medicine Hat. OHA can't, If anything you have no idea how they are against very strong teams. The loss to the Royals is not a good sign, They are good, but not in the same group as Bisons, SSAC, NSWC or BWC. yet.
As with anything what have you done for me lately.

Anonymous said...

The Royals beat OHA 2-1 on November 24.

The Royals beat the Bisons 3-2 on November 28.

Kinda shoots your argument all to crap doesn't it?

And for the record regarding the MH tournament. Despite beating BWC and losing by a goal to NSWC in the final in Chilliwack, followed two weeks later by an 8-3 win over POE, the MH committee couldn't make their minds up and waited until the last minute to offer OHA a spot. They had already accepted a spot in Calgary and honored that obligation. Everyone whining because OHA wasn't in MH should take it up with the MH tournament committee, who saw fit to invite five teams OHA had already beaten instead.

I dont think anyone puts any weight in to the Chilliwack tournamnet.

Most teams where just getting finalized and had probably played a few games before that.

Great accomplishment OHA at Chilliwack finishing second, great job.

OHA had been together longer than any team there, too bad you chocked against NSWC in the 3rd, to bad to sad.

Granted your choke was not as bad as Langley, another big comebeack by NSWC.

Too much talk about OHA for the amount of talent there.
Far more interesting kids to talk about. Lets move on and give it a rest eh!

December 13, 2012 4:13 PM

Sure they did

Anonymous said...

hmmm... not enough kids to talk about: malenstyn, koch, bowen, higson, rizzolo, willms, stevens... i could go on. the fact is you talk about them so much because your jealous! i love how they try to explain away every key win. and a 2-1 loss is a choke! fact is there are 6-8 teams that on any given night can "choke" by your definition. bet you played house hockey as a kid!!!!

Anonymous said...

While the clubs are more balanced
than the community teams, they certainly dont have the star power of past years

Oh I wonder which one of those kids is yours!

Its fair to ask "Why does OHA play in very weak tournaments -when there are strong tournaments available- The Super series would be good for them. But they continue to play in A or AA tournaments ? Would someone please explain. Don't give me - Well it was good last year. You guys know full well who is in and who is out.
