Interesting how Spruce Grove gets 3 players into the game, 2 forwards and one D man, yet MLAC's Volcan gets overlooked! Does not appear to be a true All Star line up in many respects as many superior players were overlooked in the selection. If all teams are to be represented, call it something else, because it is not "all" stars.

Yeah how did PAC manage 3 representatives?

Anonymous said...

Ah I see, Cox is from St. Albert, not PAC.

Anonymous said...

I think there was a typo, as Ryan Cox is with St Albert

Just following the league consitution.

Top six teams send one forward and one Dman. Bottom teams send one forward. Top 3 gaa goalies, get in. So no it's not a true Allstar game, but the fairest way to do it.

Ryan Cox plays for St Albert not PAC Spruce Grove. He played for PAC Spruce Grove last year. Both PAC players are legitimate allstars though. I agree that Volcan is a glaring miss from this allstar game.

Cox is from St.Albert. He played in spruce grove last year. Therefore spruce has 2 representatives. But totally agree with not all the best players being there.

Lorenson, not Berlin. Congrats to all the players selected. To 9:17 - due to the format, yes some top players get overlooked if they happen to be on a team with an abundance of talent. This is true for MLAC, but its hard to argue against Jevne who is having a great year and is physically dominant on the ice; ideally you would see Volcan and Readman travelling to Red Deer as well but the selection rules are the selection rules and MLAC had to pick only one forward and a d-man. Can't figure out why PAC gets 2 forwards though, unless that is an error on the list.

But there are rules and there are also exceptions. For example, Fort Saskatchewan was to send a Forward last year and they sent D man, Aaron Kellogg as a forward and this year, if your list is correct, Camrose is sending Jared Fredrich, A D-man. Obviously both of these players should attend, but why are there exceptions for some teams and not others?

It doesn't matter if you were overlooked or not because many players around the league were including Volcan and Readman but that is only a few. Sure it is an honor to go to the game but it does not define your season as an individual.

This shows the lack of leadership with this league when one year they will allow a dman to go as a forward and then the next they will not allow that. The people making the decisions for this should give their head a shake its a joke that volcan is not going to be there.

Yeah, totally agree with 10:55. Notice South team is carrying 7 defensemen??, so there is some exceptions to the rules, but why would you allow 7 defensemen? There must be a top forward that was missed somewhere! Shouldn't be calling is "allstar game". Would be pretty disappointing for some players not chosen, but who are leaders on their team. I am sure there are some politics as well here. Why not let the Scouts pick the all stars, regardless of teams! Could use some sort of weighting method to discount the politics.

This is far from an All-Star game. Some teams should not have any representation at all and others should have been able to send their top 2 players regardless of position.

Southeast reps chosen by player vote ... unbelievable!!!!

i feel that they should grab the best players from north make a team ad south then its a real all-star game

Does it really matter if there are 7 dmen and only 10 forwards versus 6 dmen or 11 forwards. Neither is ideal but this way the most deserving get to attend the game. Really people ...... find something else to b!^ch about. You all sound like your from BC!

my son played Spring hockey this summer with a child and I heard rumors of what these parents are doing from my child but I refused to beleive that any parent could give there child STEROIDS,but the worst thing is I herd it more this week, from different people and my sons friends.so to you SOUTH parents you are absolutly pathetic.at 14 yrs old.our league should have policies for this.I cant tell you how disgusted I feel

Ok Jose Canseco, name the names...

how can you put this Readman kid into the allstar game as he been ridding the coat tails of Jevne and Volcan all year.

Anonymous said...

dec 30,7-56
that is pretty harsh words with no proof, if you are going to make statments like that better have proof

Anonymous said...

If anything he can be considered the quarter back of that line. Sees the ice really well, and sets up his other two line mates. Can't give all the credit to the other two, Readman does just as much. Sure h isn't as aggressive, but he's smart, he knows where to go, and has out up points in the past without these two on his line. Just saying.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't have Readman in a purer allstar game either, but the kid is very good. He has excellent hockey sense, he just lacks size.

Anonymous said...

There is no reason to hate on the kid just because of his size . You all know he is quite capable of playing in the All star game

Just look at the stats. He's only three points behind volcan. And look at how many assists he has. You can't tell me that he's been "riding the coat tails" with those assists he must be setting up these two to get the goals. Everyone has a different role. But those two are not doing all the work
