Weekend Catch Up - Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan
The big event over the weekend was the Swift Current Kabos Raiders bantam AA tournament.  The tournament featured a hodge podge of teams from different areas of the prairies.  The thought heading in, was that it was the Calgary Northstar Sabres tournament to lose since they were the lone AAA team at the tournament.  The Northstar Sabres would have a perfect round robin record by beating Notre Dame AA 6-2, Edm SSAC AA 12-0 and a narrow 5-4 win over Swift Current.  As a result, they would advance to the final.  On the other side, Melville would also go perfect with wins over Calgary NWCAA AA 7-6, a 7-3 victory over the Saskatoon Frostbite and finally a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes.   This set up a showdown with the Calgary Northstar Sabres.

In the final it would be the Xavier and pair or 98 forwards Dunn and Parker who all had 11 points in 3 round robin games, Aucoin led with 7 goals.  They would take on the talented Melville Millionaires, led by Dakota Boutin and Rykr Cole who both had 5-7-12 in the 3 games.  The Millionaires who got better as the tournament went on, would storm out to a commanding 7-1 lead after 2 periods of play.  The line of Boutin, Neuls and Cole was once again a force, proving they could be a 1st line on some and 2nd line on all western Canada teams.  Rykr Cole scored 2 goals in the final, Boutin, Neuls 2, Kreklewich and Roberts scored in the tournament clincher.  Benji Tapotat was strong in goal.

As far as I'm concerned if boutin, Cole, and nuels didn't get off to a bad start, they should be leading the league or if not then pretty close.

Ya, and if they didnt lose any games, they would be undefeated. Give me a break.

That line is a very good line not only for a Saskatchewan team, but they could play on any team in Western Canada. That being what it is, it is also the perfect example of the biggest advantage Alberta and B.C have over many Saskatchewan teams! Non parent coaching... There best player is not even on that line.

Trust me their best player isn't Kreklewich, although he is better than big brother who is playing Midget AAA this year.

Cole, depending who you ask, is a top five prospect out of Sk. Boutin is just outside of the top ten.

trust me ask any scout boutin will go higher than cole in the draft the only reason people didnt see him was because he played in the manitoba league last year. (house)
