WHL Prospects Camp - Calgary

The WHL has announced it will be holding a WHL Prospects Camp presented by Reebok CCM in Calgary, AB from August 10-12 at Father David Bauer Arena.  The camp is by invitation only and will be attended by the top 102 - 1998 born players from the province of Alberta.  The camp will be the first in the bantam age category the WHL has hosted in Canada and will focus on player development and education.  The camp will include scrimmages, off-ice player development seminars and on-ice and off-ice combine testing.

Here listed is a breakdown of the top 102 Alberta players who were selected to play.  Not all players invited could make it due to various commitments.

White & Clague haven't attended both of these camps for a good reason. Waste of money

Sounds like somebodies kid didn't get invited again! Relax Dad's!

I would say this is the same negitive guy that posted on the other post that was deleted and FYI there r kids out there that don't play aaa and can't afford it so these camps compare kids at the 98 level and u c them compete against the same age so for the scouts it makes it easier to c them play against each other /and for the kids them selves it gives them a first hand look to c what and where they need to be

So how was it, with all the hype and all. Lets here the Good,Bad and the Ugly. Did the stars come out, did anyone come out and surprise anyone. Was it expensive to attend ? Players get equal ice.

It hasn't happened yet, it goes this week end. I understand it isn't expensive at all, just something to pay in order to guarantee showing up ($200+/-).

I just think that many of these kids are being set up for disappointment when next spring comes around. Many of the tiered players and AA players from last season do not have a lot of hope in being drafted yet this camp, is billed as a WHL prospects camp, put on by the WHL for players scouted by the WHL and Hockey Alberta. There is certainly some talented players going and it will be nice to see the "fringe" players up against some of the best in there age group.

Another Hockey Alberta money grab just like the Respect in hockey online course

Pay your $300.00 and away you go

FYI- Clague is attending as well as most of the top ranked 98's this province has to offer ... The cost is $285 or there a bouts ... not bad value when you consider their is off ice combine testing as well as on ice testing and 4 games to boot ... it is a great way to introduce these kids as to what they can expect in the future and provides all WHL teams with a good basis to begin their evaluations of all these kids.
