SSAC played Kamloops twice and won both, why that order??

I know your list is an opinion, but the Winnipeg Hawks seem to be a little high. I think back to the St.Albert tourney and they looked really bad, of course at Westerns they were 1 goal away from winning that tournament. I don't think their league is very strong, so I'am hoping some objective comments will come from other viewers on the Winnipeg hawks.

Your top ten is very well thought out and although there will be some arguments, I think that is probably about as fair of a list as you could come up with. It gets harder the further down the list you get. St Albert won Abbotsford. Seafair and Cloverdale were at times better than Kelowna. It makes sense that you have to win your province in order to be the highest ranked team from there.

Four BC and four Alberta in the top ten. There is a nice balance to that.

You have done a great job keeping us all informed. Thanks for the year!

That is exactly what the Rankings are, an opinion. If you were to ask 10 different scouts, you may get 10 different orders of ranking. That go's for player rankings as well. I know for a fact if you polled 10 different head scouts and ask for a 1-50 ranking for the first few rounds...you would see a drastically different list. Different people look for differing things and view things differently. That is why it is interesting to debate.

The question soon becomes as to who the favorites will be for next year. We will be switching over to the top 150 for 97 born starting on May 11 and it starts all over again.

you all talk about the Hawks in past tournaments and how they did. But the thing that none of you understand in the West is their coach looks at every game in the regular season, and regular season tournaments as exhibition games. His philosophy is it doesn't matter what you do in the regular season but what you do in the playoffs and this year the WCBC. He philosophy turned out to be correct as they showed very well against teams from the West.

Winnipeg coaches are starting to get better and better every year and so are the associations that govern hockey in Manitoba.

The hawks had one of their key players out for the last game and the sharks were missing their top D for the entire tournament. Both of those players would have made a huge difference in all games played. Not saying that they would have won more games but they would have definitely been closer.

The refereeing in my opinion was marginal at best. Seriously who calls a guy on a trip in overtime for the championship. I could see if the player was on a break away but he was against the boards lost an edge and the hawks player and him both fell on each other.

It was a great tournament with some great teams participating.

I was looking at the list and notice Notre Dame being 10th. I agree fully with your opinion and rankings but in St. Albert Airdrie out played Notre Dame until the last minute when Notre Dame came back and got 2 goals for a final of 3-2.

I've also noticed how you put Airdrie in their although they fell apart during playoff's sad to see how they could've went farther.

We need an update - BC Hockey has posted their U16 rosters. It's quite a list; some real head scratchers and a few glaring omissions from every zone.

Anonymous said...

no kidding.bc hockey has stooped into backdoor dealings and political maneuverings like no other.consider the spi/north shore evaluators as well as the seafair connections.corruption runs rampant at the expense of the kids.someone with ethical integrity at bc hockey if there is such a person needs to address the situation.

Anonymous said...

any bc hockey people have the guts to reply to the obvious omissions?

Anonymous said...

Looks like a lot of tier 2 goalies and tier 1 backup goalies made the zone camps .very strange indeed!

Anonymous said...

What's your take wehp?a lot of odd picks and omissions

Anonymous said...

More than a little surprised by some BC Zone 3,4,5 omissions and the goalies ? I guess some of the kids really stepped up and others did not. Congrats to the kids who made it.

Anonymous said...

Looking at the BC U16 roster. I did not notice Tyler Sandhu on any team. Did he opt out? Injured? Great skilled kid and wish him the best of luck!!

Anonymous said...

it was not necessarily a matter of some goalies stepping up and others not.my son was told by the goalie evaluator that he was the best goalie in his zone grouping. Better skill sets ,size all the attributes scouts look for his obvious choice but unfortunately the coaches did not agree.what do you tell a kid after that?consider this the two goalies had obvious connections to these coaches.one was picked up by north shore for kibht and the other played for spi which was run ny north shore coach not to mention seafair evaluators connection

Anonymous said...

bc u16 is overhyped moneygrab

Anonymous said...

why have goalie evaluator if his opinion doesn't matter

Anonymous said...

apparently 1 zone 4 goalie knew he made it before the final cut was made.

Anonymous said...

R u serious about some goalies stepping up and others not .cronier got lit up for 6 count them 6 goals in 1 scrimmage .yet he made it

Anonymous said...

Hey Parents, when are you going to realize that the BC under 16 is a money grab and not all its made out to be.

Years ago it was an invite and the players were evaluated during the year.

Now its pay the money and come out.

The whole process is subjective and open to questions and politics.

End of the day your paying for it, bottom line its a cash grab.

Like the WHL draft. just because your not drafted doesn't mean that down the years you won't make it.

Just beacause your not at the under 16 doesn't mean a thing.

Anonymous said...

no profeit, hargreaves ,rana nor forbes.seriously, dyment, cronier, giesbrecht, macdonald and klimek?what were evaluators smoking?

Anonymous said...

i was told by scouts that the bc u16 selection was severely questionable at best and that it didn't influence their ratings of kids.

Anonymous said...

While I am surprised at a few there and a few not there, from all over the place - yes, to the kids who do get the opportunity; absolute best wishes to you all and hope the whole experience is a lot of fun!

Anonymous said...

Can someone pass the popcorn.....

Anonymous said...

NSWC-Seafair U16 team didn't fair well at kibihts... odd?

Anonymous said...

Some real surprises out of the okanagan

Anonymous said...

Hey bc goalies not to worry 1992 born alberta goalie Sam Brittain was left of u16 not drafted to the WHL later listed by MED HAT choose to go ncaa route played in the ajhl for 1 year after that season drafted to
the NHL flordia Panthers 4th round
Playing now for Denver Pioneers
on a full ride and well on his way to a PRO carreer getting Drafted means NOTHING ! IT IS AN INVITE TO CAMP

Anonymous said...

U16 way too watered down.Lots of money involved.Im sure the good scouts have seen enough by now.Dont go.Period.

Anonymous said...

Yes, looking at the Pacific Coast U 16 selections has nothing but rank, political stew poured all over it. It appears to me that the teams were chosen keeping certain nucleuses together to win, not to develop the overall top players from each region and/or team. What a shame, top players getting screwed again for the sake of who knows who. Looks like the evaluators are more hung up on winning each Region as opposed to fair evaluations. What another shaming, embarrassing moment for minor hockey in BC. Well done whoever the spin doctors are...

Anonymous said...

the seafair coaches didn't evalute zone 4 or 5, they evaluated zone 3 so they didnt have any say in decisions. Check your facts

Anonymous said...

WEHP, do u change your rankings based on the kids that made the U 16 squads in their respective zones? Or solely based on performance that you and scouts have seen?

Anonymous said...

you think they didn't have a say but everyone knows they did,how else do you explain every seafair player making the zone?do you really think those players are that good?goalie got torched in scrimmage for six goals in half a game, same goalie who struggled all year and was essentially the backup

Anonymous said...

the evaluators should be impartial and from different region altogether.by that i mean okanagan evaluators for the pacific coast and vice versa.there's too many ties with the current system which reeks of corruption

Anonymous said...

The title of this thread is "WEHP Announce Final Top 15 Team Rankings" yet as every thread goes it becomes about BC and how everyone thinks their system sucks...go over and read the postings and that is all it is about...one more thread hijacked..when Alberta had their teams chosen there were not virtually any comments or complaints, yet as soon as BC does anything we have to read about it...wait till the teams actually play!!!! WEHP please start a thread for BC parents and let them have their spot instead of hijacking EVERY thread and making everything pertain to them---only the first 6 comments of 32 pertain to the topic ..the rest are all about BC...thanks to WEHP for giving us all a forum, but BC really needs their own--and people stop whining about someones opinion about rankings, etc....opinion only and at least we have a forum for our opinions--it is just that BC parents need one all to themselves!

Anonymous said...

I posted the April 13th 10:16 AM post. When I started with "We need an update" it was like a hint, with no concern about if WEHP posted it or deleted it. I suppose I should have asked "Can we have a new thread". Anybody who has reviewed rosters can see there is plenty of room for comment and I assumed it was expected. Sorry if that came across as hijacking somebody else's thread. There simply wasn't an appropriate one.

No, nobody likes having to read somebody else's rant, no matter if it's hockey related or just a rant expressing opinion on people from a region where there is something of note.

4 seafair kids got cut, again check your facts

Anonymous said...

Where is rebels white? 4th in AMBHL and beat ND Hounds in st albert also beat Leduc 7-3

Anonymous said...

4:14.....seafair 9/13 make cut.pretty good for a team that couldn't make provincials.discuss

Anonymous said...

which ones didn't make it?

Anonymous said...

I didn't see Tyler Sandhu's name ,did he not make it .WOW ,

Anonymous said...

Pretty much everyone beat ND at St Albert. Ha.

Anonymous said...

5:48, i found Notre Dame didn't play a strong game against Red Deer. Most likely because they didn't have a chance to win.

Anonymous said...

6:26 I'm not saying they all should have but the seafair coaches had nothing to do with it. If you watched most of them had good camps

Anonymous said...

Pretty sure I heard that Sandhu is hurt?

Anonymous said...

maybe sandu needs his own as well as many of you love to write about him??/!!!

Anonymous said...

maybe sandu needs his own as well as many of you love to write about him??/!!!

April 15, 2011 10:45 AM

??? I'm confused ???
What does this mean?

Anonymous said...

Talking about U16 camps, players, is alot more interesting than talking about which team is ranked where and why, The season is OVER. BWC won,ur not going to change anything. As for sandhu I wanted to know why he was not listed on U16 roster. injured explains it.Thx

Anonymous said...

name most of them that had good camps?

Anonymous said...

What makes u think seafair coaches had no influnce?their in the same building for crying out loud !how do you not see it ? It is a crooked non-transparent process.evaluators should be independent .non regional.By that I mean non pcaha

Anonymous said...

Pehewwww!what's that smell ?pcaha zone evaluators

Anonymous said...

what is so confusing...he is mentioned on here all the time...have you not been reading this site this season???? more than anyone else and he is not even supposed to go in the first round!!!!

Anonymous said...

What does that tell u about him, parents don't like him but team mates and opposing players do.If he is a 2nd rounder he will be the steal of the draft. All I know is he was terrific last yr.This yr was very weird .

Anonymous said...

Tyler Sandhu sprained his MCL in a final four game against BWC so he couldn't try-out.

Anonymous said...

Airdrie in top 15? They lost 2 straight in 1st round of playoffs to a bad RD Black team. Where is RD White? They were the best team in the league 2nd half of the season, and the only team to beat them were the Bisons!!! Maybe u made this list before Christmas.

Anonymous said...

Just saw your rankings, u forgot to mention RD White!!! Remember they lost to Bisons in south final. Beat Royals twice, ND, and Leduc handily. What's up with leaving them off the list. Wake up!
