I've said this before -why is it that Kamloops is ahead of BWC when they have only ever beat them ONCE in 5 tries?
Kamloops has not beaten SSAC in 2 tries, but in Tournamen finals they seem to win when it counts!
BWC has not beat Bisons, why are they ahead of them? Bisons have not beat SSAC so why are they ahead? The results of tournaments etc. have to count as not all teams have played each other. What is the big deal, unless being ranked on this Blog is the only success they will get?
I believe Kamloops and BWC have played 4 times this year, not 5. BWC has 2 wins - one by a goal and one in a shootout that went over 10 rounds. One game was tied and in the most recent game Kamloops won by 4 goals. If you believe that major tournament championships matter and that the most recent results are the best indicator of where teams are at then, Kamloops deserves the nod on both counts.
funny that you have the Wpg Hawks ranked higher then the Wpg Sharks as the Sharks just beat them and so did the 3rd place Wpg warriors. Hawks lost their last two in a row also.
Why do you continue to put Warman in your honorable mention's section? They are a good (not great) Sask team. They would be middle of the pack in any other league in Sask. and wouldn't even be considered if they played in AB.
Why would the Sharks be ahead of the Hawks because they beat them one game?
here is my honest intake on minor hockey in western canada. Usually the very bes teams (ie POE, kamloops, BWC) come from BC, but they better core of teams comes from alberta, as in if every alberta team played every BC team , alberta would have more wins. About the draft ( The top players are usually from BC, but teh core of the drafties come from alberta... ie Curtis Lazar, Matt Needham, Nic petan. The top from BC..but the core from alberta
not an accurate account. you must base it on per population. yeah bc has lots but what is the ratio to population. might be a little surprised by your results.
re: 11:30 am comments. Suggest you use a draft year other than 2010 to make your point that top players come from BC. Sure Lazar #2, Needham #8 Reinhart #15 Petan #16 and Ast #19 are top end, it does not come close to Alberta 2010 draft class. Calgary alone supplied first round picks #3,#4,#5,#6,#9 and #11 plus #7, #14,#21,#22 were also Alberta picks
well, this year... Sandhu, hicketts and virtanen are 3 of top 5. But look at prior years..Nugent-hopkins from burnaby, abbotsford won westerns 2 years ago...11 30 AM's statement makes sense about 50 percent of the time, but an interesting thought otherwise.
that makes sense TEAMWISE... this year, POE, BWC and Kamloops lead the pack, but obviously alberta has 10 other very strong teams, where BC 3 or 4. Last year, NSWC and BWc and POE led the way (Not counting the bisons) but alberta had the better core, year before it was abbotsford leading the way, but alberta had more better teams...
can someone post all the scores and results and where these games were played between BWC and kamloops this year?
9:41 get your facts straight ABBY did not win westerns two years ago and the 2011 draft is a few months away
To 9:45 PM
At BWC, BWC 3 Kamloops 2 in exhibition. Both teams still had cuts to make.
At Chilliwack Tournament, BWC 2 Kamloops 1 in the semi-final.
At Burnaby Minor Tournament, 1-1 in round robin, BWC wins the division with better record (2-0-1 vs 1-1-1).
At Bunaby Minor Tournament, Final, BWC 4 Kamloops 3, over ten rounds of shootout.
At St Albert, semifinal, Kamloops 4 BWC 0.
BWC 3 wins (Total of 10 goals)
Kamloops 1 win (Total of 11 goals)
One tie
BWC wins Chilliwack and Burnaby Minor Tournaments.
Kamloops wins MH and St Albert Tournaments.
How do you choose?
BWC and Kamloops both have good teams this year and very competitive games. As for the tournaments...Chilliwack was decent tournament but only BC teams in an off year for Pacific Coast....BWC Xmas Tourney had Tier 2 teams...what can you say about The Hat and St.Albert..all those very competitive Alberta teams which are numerous, the best Manitoba and BC have to offer this year...oh ya and Notre Dame!!
Is POE jutst as good as kamloops or BWC? or are they at the abby sefair level? I've never watched 'em play, btw, thanks for the breakdown on all their games, i much appreciate it.
you can't base it one head to head match ups all the team, that is IMHO because teams have different styles of play and lets say BWC's style of play works well against kamloops's system. (THis is not just between kamloops and BWC, but all taems, im just using them as an example) BWC looses to notre dame, kamloops wins, that could sort of count like game 6 of the kamloops BWC series....(Do you agree with me or not?) THIs is just my opinion, and i think the BC provincial finals will be one of the best minor hockey games i am going to have ever watched.
regardless of the 4-0 ST. Albert game, BWC and Kamloops have always played 1 goal games, proving they are pretty equally matched. If the pros have bad gamees, why can't these guys?
If you want to include the Notre Dame game, how about Cloverdale games ( Kamloops lost, BWC won about six straight times) or the SSAC games at St Albert (Kamloops lost, BWC won)?
Kamloops has definitely won the more prestigious tournaments. They have each won two of the four tournaments they have both entered.
BWC has never been upset by one of the other teams in their league but also does not have the gruelling travel
schedule of Kamloops.
How do you choose? The next time they play will be at the Provincials and the round Robin game will likely be irrelevant. The game that will count will be the final which comes with a ticket to Winnipeg and there are still a lot of teams that would sell their soul in order to knock both of those teams off. My sons team is one of them...
4:34 the most honest person here
Very true, the only game that is going to matter is the provincial Finals...we'll see who brings the "A" game when it really counts. BWC uses their best PP at the begining of the year right to the end of the year...kamloops has probably picked up on their PP....but Kamloops may now start to work on a dynamic PP...which BWC will not have saw.....Will be interesting.
you can't use cloverdale cause BWC at the begininng of the season only beat 'em 3-2 twice, and now beat like 6-0 because they've figured out their system. Both teams have played notre dame once.....one team won, other lost. My point is BWC has played cloverdale like 10 times...kamloops 2 or 3 times. the first game between BWC and cloverdale was 3-2 BWC. the second was also 3-2 BWC. Kamloops first game i believe was 5-4 cloverdale ( Most teams have shaky first game after xmas cuz of turkey legs :) )then kamloops beats em like 6-2, and now BWC also beats them by similair scores. The fact is you can't base it if BWC is playing a team for the 10th time, and kamloops first or second. CLOVERDALE is just an EXAMPLE im using. could also be ABBY... Thoughts?
4 34 like your points that kamloops has to travel a lot. Here's the thing, what if kamloops was a regional team....then how much better would they be? And is POE just as good as kamloops and BWC? BWC also has a system in-order in which all parents have to sign for their kid to be one the team. One of the things they have to sign about is they have no say in ice time, and can't complain about ice time either. if you do, your kid is off the team. Does kamloops have this...no. Both associations (BWC and kamloops) play by their associations rules which are VERY DIFFERENT...what if kamloops had the same system?
For comparison, it is fair to use Notre Dame, SSAC and Cloverdale. All are legitimate AAA teams. Are there any other teams that both have played that both didn't beat?
By the way Cloverdale has only had one one-goal game with BWC. In six games they have actually only scored four goals against BWC. Whoever told you that Cloverdale had two one-goal games with BWC gave you bad information.
If they both make provincials, it will be fun to see them play again! They are both fun to watch.
i think you should really look at cloverdale as a legitamate AAA. When they play their game, they are, but come one, 14th place in medicine hat? losses throughout the year to south delta, mission, NSWC, chilliwack and hollyburn. a few bad games are okay, but teams like these?
4 34 PM I think 2-0 win and 4-3 win over NSWC and Surrey Respectively is a little close to being an upset. I heard the loss to Kelowna was a few days after returning home from a road trip. 8 52 PM. You are 100percent correct about the rules the teams have to play by...if kamloops's players switched spots with BWC, Kamloops would KILL BWC.
I wonder which goalie's turn it will be when "fair play" Kamloops is playing in the provincial final? I wonder if Hicketts will play only twenty minutes? Come on Kamloops, I hope you beat BWC but your posts are fictitious and somewhat embarrassing to the teams who actually play you often.
KamlooPs will win fOr sure no matter what
hicketts will probably see 35-40 minutes in finals...regardless rules.
Alberta regional teams (SSAC) vs acadamy teams (BWC) vs minor hockey teams (KAMLOOPS). The apples seem to be compared with oranges and both being led by the meat and potatoes! Food for thought.
POE is NOT as good as Kamloops or BWC. Look at their record. Kamloops is a minor hockey association. Both POE and BWC or private facilities that pick the "cream of the crop", maybe they better rethink their formula. Kamloops will dominate in the end.
If you say sandhu is better then wong bleackley or mappin that is outrageous
wong is #1 overall material.
