Weekend clean up

A few articles to get going with this morning. First of all, the Airdrie Xtreme continue to prove that they will be a force down the stretch with 3 weekend victories, you can read more here:

The Burnaby Winter Club won 3 games over the weekend as well, not even allowing a goal. There is a brief write-up on their performance in St. Albert here:

Starting out east in the Winnipeg Bantam League, it was the Winnipeg Hawks led by Dallas Starodub's 3 goals and 1 assist, leading them to a 5-1 win over Interlake. Adam Brooks had 1-2-3 and Dan Schioler had 3 assists. Brooks, Starodub and Schioler are the top 3 scorers in the league with Brooks having the lead in goals with 43 which is 19 more than Dallas Miller and his points of 71, is 24 more than team-mate Schioler.

In the SSBHL, it was the Notre Dame Hounds playing an exhibition game against the Regina Oilers on Sunday. The Hounds once again walked away with a win, this time 6-1. Joey Ratelle from Quebec led the way with 2-2-4 and Jared Toole had a pair of goals.

The Regina Senators who will play Balgonie in the provincial league final played another of the top teams on Sunday against Weyburn. Weyburn was able to walk away with a 3-1 hard fought victory. A pair of the league's top two scorers; Tendler and Pouliot each scored for Weyburn.

Swift Current fired 66 shots on the Lumsden goalie en route to a 10-1 victory. Lumsden dresssed just 11 skaters in the game. Jordan Wittman and Tim Vanstone combined for 7 goals with Wittman scoring 4 and Vanstone 3. Each player had a 5 point game. Defenseman Carter Forsyth had 3 assists.

Finally this morning, the Regina AA Peewee tournament wrapped up over the weekend with the Winnipeg River East Marauders defeating the Lloydminster 3-2 in the final. Lumsden defeated the Winnipeg Northwest Stars in the 3rd place game. The tournament featured 32 teams from Saskatchewan and Manitoba and a few from Alberta. These players are primarily born in 1998 and we'll start focusing on them as soon as the bantam draft is over in May.

Its too bad West Central wasn't there. It would have been nice to see how the best team from the Centre Four League would have compared, as the best teams from the South and the best team from Saskatoon were all in attendance.

Having Lloyd at the Pee Wee tourney gives you an indication of how the CFHL compares to the other 2 leagues.
Yes, West Central has a strong team at the Pee Wee AA level; ironically, their Bantam AA team is at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
