New Manitoba Bantam League

There have been several inquiry's to my inbox in recent days about a supposed new Manitoba Bantam League which would feature 10-11 teams.  We have been in touch with people close to the situation in Hockey Manitoba and word is that it is true.  Here are the teams that will be involved.

Winnipeg Sharks
Winnipeg Monarchs
Winnipeg Hawks
Winnipeg Warriors
Brandon Wheat Kings
Interlake Lightning
Eastman Selects
Pembina Valley Hawks
Thunder Bay
Yellowhead Chiefs
Westman

This should make for much easier scouting and more importantly, better competition for the players in the league instead of playing the same teams over and over again.  In addition to this, Hockey Manitoba will once again be doing the Bantam AAA Showcase again.  This will occur three times in the months of October, December and February.  Definitely a a high-five to Hockey Manitoba on this one!

This seems like a great new format. Definetly will improve the overall competition for both rural and Winnipeg teams. Will also give rural kids great opportunity to play against better competition and in front of scouts. Winnipeg teams will have to travel lots more and furhter with this format.

Well done Hockey MB and Winnipeg AAA

This is great for hockey in manitoba, but its to bad the people in the eastman area can"t see the benifit of putting together a Bantam AAA team.Would be nice to see how Howden would stand out against top players his own age and how other top players do against him.

9:13 Are you saying Eastman is not putting a AAA Bantam team in the league this year, or you saying the team they are entering is not a AAA calibre team?

As Eastman bantam parent the information we have is that we will have a development camps only (aka not playing with these other 10/11 teams) as well as having to play our AA loop. Eastman is not representing what the kids need and parents want. The development just add another practice day, showcase (good) and more money out of our pockets. Totally ridiculous I say. I may pull my kid from that program in protest.

What ever you do, do not make your son suffer in protesting...
My son played with the Eastman team last year and had a good time playing both AAA and AA. yes, they should have joined the AAA league but they will still get to play provincials and in the 3 showcases. Coach Dan is an excellent coach for the players. Will work all of them equally!! not many coaches do that now a days.
