The St. Albert Tourney will be good with 7 of the top 10 listed at the event.

Based on the latest rankings, the SSAC, Leduc, Kamloops, Royals, Pool easily the toughest pool in the St. Albert Tournament. Should be fun to see what 2 teams come out.

WEHP - I unsterstand that everyone has an opinion - your rankings are a joke, no offence.

Anonymous said...

Your kids team must not be listed. How would you rank the teams??

Anonymous said...

Their should be a ranking from BC teams only in which their should be no teams that recruit players (abby, BWC)

3:30 PM my son's team is listed in the top 5 - my comments have nothing to do w/ my son's team. I will post mt top on January 19th 2011.

Recruiting allegations again. Why don't you include Seafair who have two players from BWC, two from NSWC and one from Richmond from only two years ago? A good program and good coaching will entice families to make decisions that include moving residences. Do you think Bolduc should not have been permitted to move to Kamloops? Why can't the Simpson's move to Abbotsford? Should Pasco have to play at Burnaby Minor just because that is where he played before? Should Gawdin be forced to stay at Richmond Minor and not move to Seafair? Are there any good teams in the province of BC that have not had any players move into their catchment area?

Didn't bolduc come from Poe ?

Anonymous said...

Cmon butcher,don't whine!

Anonymous said...

That pool is the pool of death two great teams will be out early

Once again B.C Parents Whining again. If the rankings are such a joke, who should not be their, and who should take their place?????????? Western does a good job ranking in my opinion. LOL

Anonymous said...

why can't we go with my hockey ranking and focus hear on personnel?

The talent discussed out of the states & shattuck are they draft eligible for WHL?

Anonymous said...

Leave Butcher's name out of this. Not invovled.

*Please note that POE, OHA, Notre Dame, Calgary Edge are not included in the rankings due to being able to draw players from outside the region. All very good teams who would all likely make the list though.

Reposted from the rankings, the above quote is quite an interesting opinion ; OHA plays in Okanagan Tier 2, and is 3-4 in seven games, but would likely be a top ten ranked if included???

Things that make you say HMMMMM!!

the only teams with no recruited players from the PCAHA are Surrey, Langley and Semiahmoo. Surrey is currently 4th in PCAHA flight 1.

Anonymous said...

Leduc has as
much talent as any team in the rankings, and now seam to playing as a team!! Look out!

Anonymous said...

Doesn't Surrey have a player who used to play at BWC?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but he decided himself to move to surrey, where he always has lived. He isn't good though, on their 3rd line.

Anonymous said...

Surrey didn't recruit him.

BC teams only:

just curious, im from manitoba, so i dont know much about BC, but i thought that Burnaby Winter Club is also able to draw players from outside their region?

Anonymous said...

Yes BWC can basically draw players from anywhere. There are some provisos if the player has previously been carded in PCAHA but other than that it's pretty much an open door.

Anonymous said...

any association can draw any player if provisions are met.not just bwc.i work for pcaha and if the requirements are met by the player moving which by the way are set by Hockey Canada, then the player can transfer.people move all the time.if a parent moves just for the the sake of their kid playing for a certain team we are against that but we can not prevent it.at this point i don't believe there are any kids at any division from outside the lower mainland registered at bwc.

Anonymous said...

If you work for PCAHA then don't attempt to obscure the facts; BWC is allowed to register players that don't live in their catchment area. Any player can move to any association, the difference is that to play at BWC a move is not necessarily required.

For example a player that has not been previously carded can simply register and play at a winter club but reside within the catchment area of another team. No move required.

7:54 That goes for all the other private clubs as well. I don't think you could design a system that is more uneven if you tried. I can't think of another hockey league (i've looked)in NA that have separate rules for different hockey associations or clubs.

Winter clubs using novice spring teams for recruitment purposes??!! Ridiculous.

It has been the pink elephant in the room in PC for a long time. Look at GV conference for atom A in teamlink. 'nuff said.

Anonymous said...

However, not the clubs fault... they are just dealing with the situation as it is.

Anonymous said...

Are the last 2 posters whining about losing or are their kids not as good as others playing at their age?

Anonymous said...

Their kids probably aren't as could as they think

Anonymous said...

Yeah that's it. whenever inequities are pointed out it is because someone's kid isn't good enough. Definitely it.

These were definitely kids talking in these 2 notes. If you don't have an answer, always attack the kids. The only thing wrong with hockey is the lunatic parents.

The second last post was sarcasm but it was obviously wasted on you.

appears that anonymous is the only one talking to themselves here. LOL.

Anonymous said...

what exactly is the problem here people.?the organizations or the governing body?what is the beef?people moving their kids to better hockey programs or parents obsessed with their kids' winning with their associations?isn't the mandate of hockey canada to best develope the elite hockey player?don't we all want our kid's to achieve at their highest potential?

I want to jump on the back of 1:21 pm - who cares were "other" teams draw their teams from. My son plays in the AMBHL, they have their catchment area and thats it. It is common knowledge that some kids play out of their repsective area for one reason or another, again no one really cares. Worry about making your kid better if he/she has passion for the game! Don't focus on your opponent!
Personally, I support groups and/or individuals who take whatever means to get the best opportunities for child/team/group (no law breaking). I guess the message is to relax and if most of the comments are geared to the BWC I can't wait to see them play and I hope my sons team gets to play them in St.Albert!!!!

Just so we are clear about the Okanagan Hockey Academy, they have a tier 1 team as well as a tier 2 team, tier one team likely have three draft players and the tier 2 team is a young developing group that will fill in the players leaving next year, for sure there will be at least 5-6 players playing at the prep level at the academy next season if they continue to develop thru a strong development process at the academy,

associations or academys or winter clubs, we need all three to develop the players at different levels, associations to develop players at the early years, clubs to fullfill the need in large centers to develop elite players, academys to develop players in the less poulated areas, at the end of the day its about the players education, social mindfullness and the ability to play at a level which they are capable, it really boils down to what the player family is looking for in the experience, are they all going to the NHL, NCAA, maybe but unlikely, why cant we jst let the programs develop and stop the complaining about whos who, why don,t we talk about the successes in all the programs each program has a different purpose, each program have there success storys, each program have there problems.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
