Poll Question - Response

I've noticed by looking at the poll that there are many votes for "other" as to who will be the top team in Western Canada for the 2011-2012 season.  I would like to get some feedback as to who you all think "other" may be?

Thank you for your feedback and reasons why.

I'm a SK person and was just looking at your teams possibility going to Western. Here is my question who in their right mind would list Melville and Melfort, but not list Yorkton, Weyburn or Prairie Storm?

The SHA guidelines with respect to closest center has really made Melville a stronger team. Many excellent players from the Moose Mountain region have come to Melville such as Bear and Cole.
To your question about Melfort. Two years ago, this Melfort group captured the CFHL and lost the SHA Northern Final to the eventual provincial champion, Saskatoon Thunder. Fast forward to 2nd year bantam, Melfort has that nucleus back and now have combined with Tisdale. This will make them stronger.
I agree that Yorkton, Weyburn, and Prairie Storm will have good teams.
I believe Melville, Melfort, North Battleford, and Martensville/Warman will be stronger than them though.

Kids from the Moose Mountain area can not bypass Yorkton without a release from them. This will not make Melvelle stronger but will make Yorkton stronger.

Weyburn will gain players from the Moose Mountain area as will Estevan. So ultimately it is hard to determine who will benefit the most there.

Prairie Storm though will gain a number of strong players with the loss of Lumsden.

North Battleford will be the run away winner of the North Division as the new league and nearest center rule is going to most benefit them.

I keep hearing the Melfort/Tisdale combo will be strong but Tisdale is a perennial weak team and while the area is large there is not alot of high end prospects there. I remember watching that Melfort team a couple of years ago and what I remember is that at the start of the year a good team, but it was a team that never developed over the course of the year and got blown out in 2 games by the Thunder from Saskatoon because of selfish players. You factor in at least a dozen of problem parents who see their sons fulfilling their dreams of getting drafted and I see no success for them. But I could be wrong, as it is all speculation at this point.

The biggest disappointment in SK will be that the best players and the best teams will be from Saskatoon and they are not able to compete in Westerns because of SMHA selfishness.
