Tim Jardine Tournament Day 1

The 17th annual Tim Jardine Bantam Tournament is now underway in Ladner, BC. The tournament features 8 teams in 2 separate pools. The favorite going in to the tournament had to be the Seafair Islanders who went 7-0-1 in tiering in group 2 of the PCAHA. However, in 2 games yesterday they went winless, going 0-1-1 with a tie against Surrey and a 3-2 to South Delta. Semiahmoo is 1-0-1 after tieing JDF and outscoring Richmond 8-6.

Some highlights from day one:
Richmond forward Elvis Jansons had 3-1-4, while line-mate Chandler Bradley had 1-3-4 in a 8-6 loss to Semiahmoo.

Semiahmoo forward Cole Plotnikoff has 3-3-6 in his first two games. Ian Bennett is proving once again to be a force with 2-1-3. Jivan Sidhu has been strong on the back end.

Kyle Raymond and Ryan Rensby lead Langley offensively with 3 and 2 points respectively. Watch for Ryan Donaldson to make his name known at this tournament.

In Seafair's 4-4 tie vs. Surrey, top ranked prospect Tyler Sandhu had 3 assists. Shaun Dosanjh was a physical force on the blue-line.

........................

Also, in Regina, 24 bantam teams from all 3 leagues are taking part in the bantam AA challenge. I'll have a full re-cap after the completion of the tournament play on Monday.

Shandhu has always been over rated

Wow! The hating has begun. So anonymous is he really not that good.

Early in the tourney... Sandhu still looks real good.

Sandhu is very good a late first rounder but over rated as a top 3 pick

This is really not a aaa bantam tournament. So let's be honest,if you can't shine here, there is a problem.Seafair has had their glory days 2 years ago. It's over.

yea how can they call it a AAA tournament without BWC,they r definitly the top team not even close. As for Sandhu with all that depth on team and he can't get it done,I can't see him in the first round.

Have seen the seafair team play many times this season and I also cant see Sandhu as a top ten pickunless other see something im not.Over the last 5 years Sandhu was always spoke about but against the top players at spring tourneys he never was amoung the leaders

your right because if u don't score and lead your team in spring hockey you don't deserve the hype.macmasters leaves jr flames struggles so he must be terrible .But wait he is back with point and martin they play 8-6 games all the time getting all the goals so he is great again.IT is all about points.LOL

Sandhu was never a Great scorer.Your right about MacMaster it seems that now that he is back with Point the pucks are going in. MacMaster is a great scorer but the truth is playing with Point not many guys wouldnt score but give Point a sniper like MacMaster and the results are awesome. Scoring isnt everything but if your hyped as a scorer than you need to score!

Who said he is a great scorer,he is a good player. If u watch him play ,like u claim, u would know how unselfish he is ,how much he works in his own end and makes others around him better. Can point or macmaster carry a team on their own or do they need each other. Be honest you have seen his team.like u claim, they r not that good .I guess we will see at draft time who is over hyped

First of all just because a player is drafted high doesnt show that he is a better player right now.The draft is about potential The whl looks for certain types of players for the team they want to have or a position they may be thin at.Last year at the westerns a player from Calgary a dman Morse went second round in that tourney he may have been the 3rd or 4th Dman on that team but he was picked because it was felt he would be the best at 16-17.It has nothing to do with now.It is a educated guess!

I don't get how u both say sandhu is not a scorer he got 50 goals last yr in tier 1 as a first yr.Mcmasters is a great scorer NOW that he is playing with point and the pucks r going in.Really.What happened during spring or when they don't play together? Can someone tell how point has done on a team coached by someone other than his dad ? I'm sure both point and macmaster r great kids and fantastic players but u got to look at their teams and situations.come on be real .Also u are normally drafted high because u r a GOOD player and u have POTENTIAL not just size.

Dont worry about Point his dad has not coached him for two years of Bantam aaa and he seems to do well was top 5 scorer at the westerns as a first year against the best teams was top ten scorer in ambhl playoffs hes done ok without his dad.The fact is all the guys your speakig of are good. As for MacMaster he played fine in the spring dont hate on guys people.
