Josh Blanchard

Josh Blanchard was hidden in obscurity until the recent Challenge Cup in Richmond/Vancouver. He sure opened our eyes with his summer team the BC Interior Selects. Josh played his winter hockey in Kelowna. He is definitely on the rise right now and will be someone to watch as he continues to raise the level of his game.

I saw 2 of his games at the Challenge Cup. OK player, but would not have come close to his totals in 1-A or 1-B pools. If you look at the overall point totals from the Challenge Cup most of the "scoring leaders" were from the weaker divisions (1-C, 1-D, and 2) with the exceptions of a few Flames and 1 Blade. We must put these "performances" into the context of the caliber of play in which they were obtained. (i.e. Cody Young). There are several players that were in the 1-A and 1-B pools that exceeded expectations of scouts and several that disappointed. This is the information that I would like to see on this blog.
