The Notre Dame bantam Hounds are coming off a fabulous season in 09-10 sporting a 26-0-0 record, scoring 310 goals while allowing just 38 in the SSBHL. That translates to a 12-1 win on average. From that team, the Hounds had a slough of players drafted in the WHL bantam draft including, scoring champ Corey Millette, Drydon Hunt, first round talent defenceman Tyler King and others. Tough shoes to fill but the recruitment process has already begun for the Hounds for 2010-2011.
The Hounds will turn their sites to the likes of Ben Duperreault, Jacob Cardiff and Sebastien Barrette for scoring and Camrose, Alberta star Haydn Fleury on defence. Duperreault, put up solid numbers with Balgonie last year with 26-18-44, while his team mate Jacob Cardiff had 19 goals and 36 points. Both will be relied upon to better those numbers as second year bantams and be near the top of the scoring parade. Sebastien Barrette, fresh off a fantastic Regina prospects camp will also add very good scoring depth up front. The Hounds are also hopeful that West Central star Josh Uhrich can be convinced to take his talents to Notre Dame in the fall. The defence will receive a gift from Camrose in Haydn Fleury. Fleury at this point is viewed as one of the better defenceman for the bantam draft and should be one of the leaders of the Hounds.

Josh Uhrich is a long way from committing to Notre Dame and is more interested in playing in the GSHL where he can be affiliated by one of the Saskatoon Midget AAA teams. As well, Josh has good size and plays aggressively but really needs to work on his touch and scoring ability. I hope Josh doesn't believe the hype of WEHP. He has good potential but is far from the caliber of Alberta and BC peers.
Hayden FLeury is a good player but was not one of the strongest players on the Calgary Jr. Flames D - Line. ND will need good support at this position to finish where they did last year.
Your comments are very accurate. Josh isn't getting hype, he is getting recognition and well deserved. His peers, scouts and us included here all believe he has a bright future if he continues to progress. I guess we'll just have to wait and see where Josh plays. If it is in the GSHL, then so be it and he'll do well there.
As for Fleury, we are in agreement with you in that he was not one of the strongest players on the Jr. Flames D. That is fine though when you consider Gonek and Hicketts were there. They are possibly, at this point, two of the top defenceman available for the draft. Fleury will do well in Notre Dame.
Do you know of other players that Notre Dame is interested in?
I had heard through the rumour mill they were/are very interested in Grant Naherniak (Goal), Curtnall (F) and Ben Verrall (D).

Ben Verrall is going to stay in Saskatoon and play in the GSHL this year. I had a very strong showing at ND camp but has decided against joining ND until his midget season.
I could be wrong but because of the closest centre rule i think the only way Uhrich could play in the GSHL is if his family moves to Saskatoon (or Martensville). Can anyone confirm this?
Uhrich and Fleury both look good for Notre Dame so far this early season. The whole team looks great. They played Swift Current tonight. Close game with the win going to ND. Any more info on the rest of the kids on the team? I know they have several french kids attending.
