October 24, 2011 newsletter is now ready
Stats have been updated for all Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba players. In addition, POE stats are updated. THE PCACA doesn't produce specific stats, so if any of you have these or would like them included, please forward.
Rankings
The season is now nicely underway in Alberta as the AMBHL season is just over three weeks old and we've had a chance to get out and watch some of the action. There have been some surprises as some players have hit growth spurts from last year and some of the 98 born players have really taken the league by storm early and each is factored in to the adjusted rankings.
There has now been action in both the North and South of the Saskatchewan SBAAHL which has brought some surprise and change to the rankings. The GSHL has gotten underway in Saskatoon which has given us our first look at the good talent in Saskatoon once again. Also the Kelowna Bantam AAA tournament has opened our eyes to several players who have taken huge jumps in size and ability from last season. In addition to the Kelowna tournament, the first of four Winnipeg Showcases took place and the rankings do reflect that.
So with that, we make several additions and some movement near the top and throughout the western Canada 97 and 98 lists. The Medicine Hat tournament teams have been announced. Please visit the blog for updates on that and the list of teams taking part.
Interviews
The Interview section this time around, I speak with a defenseman from B.C. who is trying to fill big shoes left by one of the best in western Canada last yaer.
I also speak with a Saskatchewn born forward who is primed for a surge up the rankings if his hot start continues.
I speak with a captain from Manitoba who was one of the top scorers in the province last year.
Finally, I had a chance to chat with a B.C. forward who is coming off an outstanding Chilliwack tournament.
News and Notes
The Top 20 power rankings make its second appearance on the newsletter. We rank the preliminary teams to watch heading in to the 2011-2012 season.
Listed are the up coming tournaments this season across western Canada as well.
Also, stay tuned to the blog in the coming weeks for other updates.
