November 28, 2012 newsletter is ready

Rankings
The November 28, 2012 newsletter is now ready.  In this edition of the newsletter, we update the Top 200 for 98's, Top 130 for 99's.  As well, stats have been updated for all players in the 98 and 99 age group with the exception of some PCAHA teams.  Updated heights and weights are updated as well for most teams in western Canada and the US.    The Top 40 western American players are updated.  There has been some change up near the top of the lists and new players have been added and deleted after the Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds Tournament, Calgary NWCAA Flames Tournament, Swift Current AA Tournament and the Tim Jardine Tournament as well.

Interviews
In the interview section, we have a chance to interview one of the two players playing Midget AAA hockey this year in the bantam age group.  The player is averaging a point per game and looks to be a 1st round caliber prospect.

Also, we interview a forward coming off a tremendous Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds tournament to which he was named to the All-Star team.

We speak with one of the top goalies from the Hockey Hounds Tournament.  He is having a fantastic season and has shot up the rankings at a rapid pace this year.

Interviewed is a defenseman who is flying under the radar but has all the tools to be a pretty high selection in the 2013 bantam draft.  He also had a great Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds Tournament.

Finally, we interview a player who was tremendous in the Regina AA Tournament and combines size and grit and was named to the Regina AA All-Star team.

Team Rankings
The top 20 team rankings make its Third appearance in the newsletter since all leagues are now under way.  The team rankings are formatted in a newer style and is updated once again.  We also list who their next games are against.

News and Notes
We take a look at what is happening in each province and highlight some of the great performances so far this year and some brief tournament re-caps as well.

Sunday - Late

* Tyler Benson with another 6 points this evening in a 6-2 SSAC victory.  Benson, who now has 35-45-80 in just 16 games is on pace for 165 points this season.  The league record is held by Ty Rattie who put up 75-56-131 in 33 games.  Benson's 92 assist pace would smash the record.

*Kale Clague also had a huge game with 4 goals and an assist today.  Clague is also on track to smash the league record for points by a defenseman.  Clague currently has 16-25-41 in 16 games.  A pace of 85 points for Clague currently.

We fully expect Clague and Benson to go first and second in the draft.  It will depend on team need as to who goes first overall in May.  Should be a fun ride!

Swift Current Kabos Raiders AA Tournament
Congratulations to the Okotoks Oilers on winning the Swift Current Bantam AA Tournament this weekend.  They took a 4-3 lead in to the final seconds of the 3rd period but '99 born Jaret Anderson-Dolan would score with just .7 seconds to play to force OT.  In OT, Dylan Prpich would score the tournament winning goal early.

The "A" consolation game would also see OT as the host team Kabos Raiders won it on a goal from Kole Lind.  Lind was outstanding in the tournament for Swift Current and could go fairly high in the bantam draft in May.  Swift Current held a 38-20 shot advantage over the Pat Blues.

Dallas Saunders Memorial Tournament
Congratulations to the Langley Eagles on winning the Dallas Saunders Memorial Tournament in Abbotsford this afternoon.  The Bronze medal goes to Abbotsford who were able to skate by Coquitlam.

Dallas Saunders Memorial All-Stars
F - James Malm - Langley Eagles
F - Caleb Fantillo - Coquitlam Chiefs
F -  Carter Shannon - Abbotsford Hawks
D - Dennis Cholowski - Langley Eagles
D - Sam De Melo - Kelowna Jr. Rockets
G - Gio Sambrielaz - Kelowna Jr. Rockets

Sunday, November 25th Update

Dallas Saunders Memorial Tournament
The Kelowna Jr. Rockets will meet the Langley Eagles in the tournament final this afternoon.  The Jr. Rockets were able to sneak by the Abbotsford Hawks 3-2.  The Jr. Rockets were very stingy throughout the tournament, keeping things tight checking and very simple.  The Langley Eagles on the other hand will bring a more up tempo, offensive style. Kelowna will have to watch for Malm and Gingras today along with Cholowski and his offensive ability from the backend.  It should be a good final this afternoon and congratulations to both teams.

In the Bronze medal game, it will be Abbotsford vs. Coquitlam this morning at 10:00AM PDT.

Swift Current Kabos Raiders Tournament
It will be the Okotoks Oilers against the Calgary Edge in the final of the Kabos Raiders "AA" Tournament today.  The Oilers were able to hold down the high-flying line of Nagel, Lind, Carey in a 2-1 Double OT Shoot-out.  While the Calgary Edge capped off a great tournament with a 5-2 victory over the Regina Pat Blues.  The game between the Edge and Pat Blues was tied at 2-2 until midway through the 3rd period when the Edge struck for 2 quick goals in a span of 2 minutes on goals from Jake Bean and game MVP Liam Peterson.  Then with under a minute to play, American born Logan  Hand added one in to an EN for the win.

Calgary Northstar Sabres 3 - Airdrie Xtreme 2
The Sabres move to 10-2-1 and sit just 4 points back of the division leading Bisons with a game in hand.  The Sabres continue to play stingy hockey, having allowed just 27 goals in 13 league games.   A lot of that credit has to be given to 5'8 goalie Logan Drackett who is having an outstanding season for the Sabres.  In this game, Parker Aucoin scored twice, giving him a team leading 18 goals and 26 points in 14 games.  Josh Logel, who also scored in this one, is 2nd on the team with 8 goals.  The Xtreme got singles from Jordan McConnell and Andrew Fyten.  McConnell and Fyten are 1-2 in the team goal scoring race with 10 and 7 respectively.
