Just a note to inform everyone that the posting will likely be light over the next few days. I'll be at the Prince Albert Bantam Tournament which features 23 teams from Saskatchewan and the Winnipeg AA Sharks. If I get a chance, I'll post some thoughts over the weekend, we'll see.
.................
A couple quick notes first though. In the AMBHL, Leduc racked up 11 goals over the normally stingy Spruce Grove PAC Saints en route to an 11-4 win. Kord Pankewicz who played defence in this one had 3-3-6 and Braden Jakubowski 2-4-6, Liam Gregor had 5 points and Evan Polei had 4 points in the victory. Thomas Foster had 2 goals in the loss for Spruce Grove.
In the SSBHL, the Weyburn Redwings Bantam AA were able to hang in with Notre Dame in a 7-4 loss. Nicolas Pouliot had 2 goals, giving him a league leading 18 goals in 11 games for Weyburn. Blake Penner had 2-2-4, he now has 26-14-40 in just 12 league/exhibition games.
................................
Some Winnipeg bantam league action from this week now. Taylor Fisher continued his hot streak with 1-2-3 in a 4-4 tie with the Winnipeg Monarchs on Wednesday night. Fisher now has 22 points and is in the top 5 in league scoring. Fisher is a 6'1 225 defenceman who should be a high pick in May. Also, Adam Brooks had a hat-trick in his last game, giving him a league high 24 goals and 39 points this season. Brooks has a 14 point scoring lead on his team-mates Wowryk and Starodub. His 24 goals are 10 more than 2nd place Liam Kroeker from the Winnipeg Monarchs.
The Leduc vs Spruce Grove game proves that on any given game in the AMBHL anything can happen. WOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt may show that PAC had an easy schedule early and cant beat the top teams Leduc is a good teams PAC is a good team but not as strong as earlier thought
ReplyDeleteYou talk a lot about AA teams in Manitoba and Sask. Are there AAA teams in those provinces or is this equivalent to AAA? Is this a designation by population? I need to be educated on prairie hockey!
ReplyDeleteThere was a fight between Nicolas Pouliot and Addison number 2 scoring leader. Anyone know know why/what sparked it?
ReplyDeleteReality sets in yet again.Kelowna loses 10 to 1 against Kamloops.No way a top 10 team.Wow.
